Simulation Software information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Simulation Software Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Simulation Software Engineer, you need strong programming skills (often in C++, Python, or MATLAB), a background in mathematics or engineering, and experience with simulation modeling. Familiarity with simulation platforms like Simulink, Arena, or AnyLogic, as well as knowledge of version control and software development tools, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication help you translate complex systems into accurate simulations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. These skills and qualifications ensure the creation of reliable, efficient simulation models that inform decision-making and innovation across industries.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in simulation software development, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in simulation software often encounter challenges such as ensuring model accuracy, managing computational resource demands, and integrating their solutions with other engineering tools. These challenges can be addressed by collaborating closely with subject matter experts, staying updated on advancements in computing hardware, and adhering to industry standards for interoperability. Regular communication with team members—including engineers, designers, and testers—also helps to streamline troubleshooting and foster innovative solutions.

What is simulation software?

Simulation software is a type of computer program that models real-world systems, processes, or environments to study their behavior under various conditions. It allows users to test scenarios, predict outcomes, and optimize designs without the cost or risk of physical experiments. Simulation software is widely used in industries like engineering, healthcare, aviation, and manufacturing for purposes such as product development, training, and research. The software can range from simple models to highly complex, multi-physics simulations depending on the application.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in C++, Python to design, develop, and optimize GPU-accelerated software for quantum computing. In this role, you will build and scale high-performance distributed libraries that implement tensor network-based algorithms at the core of large-scale quantum simulation and quantum-HPC workflows. You will play a key role in evolving NVIDIA's quantum-HPC platforms, pushing the boundaries of performance and scalability, and driving widespread adoption of NVIDIA's accelerated quantum computing solutions.

NVIDIA's cuQuantum group is a dynamic, high-impact team with strong visibility across the global quantum and HPC communities. We are building the foundations for scalable scientific computing and emerging quantum-HPC workflows. We tackle some of the most exciting challenges by combining deep domain expertise in quantum technologies with leadership in GPU-accelerated software. Our team works closely across Product, Engineering, and Research to deliver efficient, reliable software deployed across supercomputing centers and cloud environments worldwide.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Build, develop, and maintain HPC-quantum libraries and APIs in C++ and Python, with a strong focus on tensor network-based algorithms and representations.

  • Translate innovative quantum research concepts into production-ready, industry-grade software that integrates seamlessly into NVIDIA's quantum-HPC ecosystem.

  • Take ownership of new functionality from concept to productization, including design, implementation, testing, debugging, performance tuning and documentation.

  • Drive opportunities to improve library quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability through thoughtful re-architecture and modern software engineering practices.

  • Collaborate closely with product management, architects, and internal and external partners to understand user workflows, define requirements, and contribute to technical roadmaps.

What We Need To See:

  • Ph .D. in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience.

  • Strong proficiency with C++ and/or Python languages, with experience in GPU-accelerated and parallel programming models.

  • Solid Background in numerical linear algebra (SVD, QR, low-rank approximations, truncation strategies) and their use in tensor network algorithms.

  • Shown experience working on quantum simulation techniques, in particular any of Tensor Networks, MPS, PEPS, Tree Tensor Networks, State-Vector, Stabilizer formalism. With proven ownership of large-scale projects.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd:

  • Proficiency and experience with quantum algorithms, hybrid quantum-classical workflows and quantum programming frameworks such as CUDA-Q, Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, QTip, Stim, or Braket is a strong plus.

  • Solid foundations and practical involvement in Quantum Error Correction, Noise-aware and Error-mitigated simulation, Quantum numerical methods.

  • Experience in analyzing, benchmarking, and optimizing software across CPU and GPU architectures, demonstrating skills in performance profiling and scalability analysis.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 152,000 USD - 241,500 USD for Level 3, and 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Applications for this job will be accepted at least until February 28, 2026.
