Job description

Description

What You'll Do:

In your role as a Simulation Systems Engineer, you will provide critical technical support to a brand-new U.S. Navy initiative. The work involved directly contributes to advancing naval aviation training and plays a vital role in ensuring Warfighter readiness and mission success. This position is based in Lexington Park, MD and will require 3-6 month long deployments on U.S. Navy ships.  An active Secret security clearance and U.S. Passport are required. Must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Using your expertise in distributed simulation environments and interoperability standards to connect and optimize the performance of various training systems, including flight simulators, sensor simulators, and threat environments.
  • Operating the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) and other Semi-Automated Forces (SAF) systems to design, refine, and execute dynamic, high-fidelity training scenarios that challenge and enhance aircrew performance.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to Naval Aviation trainer systems, including hardware, software, networking, and integration challenges.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and implementing procedures to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of critical training systems while forward deployed.

This description outlines the general nature and scope of the role. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in a technical area of study is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with distributed simulation environments, particularly in support of aircrew or military aviation training, required.
  • In-depth knowledge of simulation software used for maintenance, operational simulation, control, threat generation, monitoring, and briefing/debriefing.
  • Strong understanding of Navy fighter and Command and Control (C2) platforms, including mission systems, interoperability, and threat management.
  • Proficient in distributed simulation protocols such as DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation) and HLA (High-Level Architecture), with a solid grasp of network connectivity requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with NGTS or other Semi-Automated Forces (SAF) simulation platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and Authorization to Operate (ATO) requirements is a plus.
  • CompTia Security+ certification will be required. Candidates not holding this certification will need to obtain it within 6 months of employment.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!

  • This position requires extensive time onboard a U.S. Navy vessel, potentially for 3-6 month deployments. Being comfortable in an "at sea" environment is imperative.
  • These ships are not accessible to individuals with limited mobility.
  • When not deployed, work will be performed in Lexington Park, MD.
  • Life at sea may not be easy, but this position comes with high earning potential.

Equally Important:

  • Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships across teams and with external partners.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills.
  • Proactive, self-directed work style with the ability to operate independently.
  • Analytical thinker with proven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
