Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Modeling & Simulation Lead Engineer to support advanced research and development initiatives for a government customer. This individual will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing complex simulation models across RF/Electronic Warfare (EW) and power systems domains. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, utility industry experience, and a strong background in integrated resource planning and grid modeling.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the development, configuration, and execution of advanced modeling and simulation environments for RF/EW and power systems applications
2. Build and maintain high-fidelity models using tools such as FEKO, PSSยฎE, and SINCAL
3. Support grid software modeling efforts, including power flow, stability, and contingency analysis
4. Utilize additional engineering tools such as SKM, ETAP, or similar platforms for system analysis and validation
5. Drive integrated resource planning (IRP) modeling efforts, including scenario analysis and long-term system planning
6. Establish modeling frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to support scalable and repeatable simulations
7. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and government stakeholders to align modeling efforts with mission objectives
8. Lead technical research and development initiatives, including prototyping and evaluation of new modeling techniques and tools
9. Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and analysts

Required Qualifications
1. Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (PhD preferred)
2. Active Top Secret security clearance
3. 8+ years of experience in modeling and simulation, with a focus on RF/EW and/or power systems
4. Hands-on experience with FEKO for electromagnetic simulation and analysis
5. Strong proficiency with power system modeling tools such as PSSยฎE and SINCAL
6. Experience with additional tools such as SKM, ETAP, or similar power engineering software
7. Prior experience working for or supporting an electric utility, including integrated resource planning (IRP)
8. Demonstrated ability to lead modeling and simulation efforts from concept through implementation

2. Experience supporting government or defense-related R&D programs
3. Familiarity with multi-domain modeling (e.g., coupling RF/EW with power systems or other physical systems)

5. Strong programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
