Description
Under the direct supervision of the Department Chair of Nursing and Simulation, this individual will plan, implement, and facilitate integration of simulation-based learning experiences for a variety of programs using mannequins, task trainers, and standardized patients in an academic setting. This individual will also act as an essential resource for faculty in delivering immersive learning experiences while providing technical expertise. The desired candidate will be comfortable working with a variety of simulation modalities and equipment.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years' full-time healthcare experience is required.
  • Certification or licensure requirements: Obtain Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification within 3 years of employment.
  • Must relate well to students and colleagues, and create a learning environment conducive to student learning.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of competency within the discipline to be taught.
  • Must be highly organized and able to multitask.

Work Performed
  • Organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
  • Assist in maintaining public relations with the local community and take part in community relations when possible.
  • Assist with all technical operations in simulation areas
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with professional personnel, local organizations, public officials and other interested people.
  • Work with area heath care facilities to promote simulation lab and participate in mobile simulations as needed.
  • Develop and maintain master schedule of simulations with all departments represented
  • Design and build simulations based upon learning objectives of students, utilizing INACSL standards.
  • Conduct tours of the simulation center as requested
  • Maintain and repair all equipment in simulation center, and promptly report any equipment repairs needed.
  • Maintain records of routine maintenance of all equipment
  • Develop and keep current a yearly prospective equipment needs list
  • Keep accurate inventories of equipment and supplies, responsible for submitting requisitions to order needed materials.
  • Organize and maintain lab and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion to meet the needs of the simulation center activities
  • Stay up to date with simulation technology and equipment use and repair as appropriate to improve student learning.
  • Work collaboratively as a subject matter expert to develop curriculum or provide discipline specific instruction within credit and non-credit areas of the college as needed.
  • Provide training and support for faculty using current debriefing methods
  • Actively participate in program promotion and recruiting events, related professional development, advisory committee meetings, and staff meetings as requested
  • Collect data to support program outcomes and assist with college studies and surveys.
  • Work towards accreditation of simulation center
  • Participate in program improvement initiatives
  • Maintain open lines of communication with Department Chair
  • Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community
  • Serve actively on any committee to which appointed
  • Meet the standards of the college's Quality Faculty Plan
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work
  • Instill a realistic work attitude in students with clear expectations for skill development.
  • Inject relevant personal work experience into the instructional setting to aide in the preparation of each student for entry into employment
