Job description
This position provides vital support to nursing students and faculty within the skills and simulation laboratory setting. The individual in this role is responsible for preparing and maintaining a safe, organized, and fully functional lab environment, ensuring that equipment is ready and instructional activities run smoothly. In addition, this role provides assistance during clinical experiences as assigned, contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPSReports to: Clinical Coordinator and Chief Nurse Administrator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:
- • Facilitate simulation and skills lab operations by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot simulation equipment, including human patient simulators, electronic simulation devices, task trainers, and audiovisual recording systems.
• Prepare, set up, and tear down all ADN simulation and skills lab activities, ensuring all equipment and resources are functional and ready for use.
• Serve as a resource for students and faculty during simulations and skills teaching labs, answering questions about equipment and learning resources.
• Manage and operate simulation technology, including high-fidelity mannequins and audiovisual systems
• Maintain accurate supply inventory and order supplies as needed under the direction of the SIM Lab Manager.
• Monitor student skills practice hours and send required reports to the SIM Lab Manager as directed.
• Assist in the teaching of clinical skills across the curriculum.
• Facilitate skills checkoffs across the curriculum.
• Serve as the fill-in instructor for hospital clinical groups or open labs as needed.
ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
All remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position. Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required- Active Florida RN license
EXPERIENCE
Required:
A minimum of at least two (2) years professional, current experience in bedside nursing in a fast-paced environment is required.
Preferred:
Three (3) years or more professional, current experience in bedside nursing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
- Knowledge of nursing procedures and processes
- Personal commitment to teach in a Christian university and be in agreement with the mission of Southeastern University
Preferred:
- Knowledge of lab processes and procedures

- This position is considered Non-Emergency for the purposes of Emergency Response.
Mobility & Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (often 2–4 hours continuously) during demonstration and student assessment.
Lifting & Carrying: Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of equipment, supplies, and simulation mannequins, at least 25 pounds.
Physical Dexterity: Fine motor skills sufficient to demonstrate delicate technical procedures (e.g., intravenous insertion, catheterization, sterile dressing changes).
Positioning & Flexibility: Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and crouching to assist students with skills at various bedside heights.
Sensory Abilities:
- Vision: Near vision sufficient to read fine print on medication vials, computer monitors, and evaluate student techniques accurately.
- Hearing: Ability to hear student questions, audio alarms from equipment, and heart/lung sounds during simulation.
- Speech: Ability to speak clearly and loudly enough to communicate instructions in a busy lab environment.
Environmental Exposure: Ability to work in a classroom/lab setting with potential exposure to simulated body fluids, medical waste, latex, and chemical agents used in cleaning equipment.

Schedule:Weeknights and weekends
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. - SEU promotes a safe working environment. Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management.
- Work-related injuries must be immediately reported to Security and Human Resources. When life or limb are at risk, please dial 911. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.
- Emergency Employees report for or must remain at work in emergency situations. Dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to this position, unless instructed otherwise by your direct supervisor or a member of the Leadership Team.
All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University’s insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
