Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides psychiatric assessment and diagnostic evaluation while also ordering laboratory testing.
    • Conducts comprehensive initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations to assess patient needs and monitor progress.
    • Interprets clinical data to determine appropriate management and treatment strategies.
    • Orders and evaluates diagnostic/laboratory tests, ensuring appropriate follow-up when abnormal results are identified.
    • Facilitates referrals to higher levels of care for complex medical concerns beyond the outpatient scope.
  • Develops and implements individualized patient management plans, ensuring continuity of care through detailed progress documentation.
    • Prescribes and monitors medications for psychiatric conditions, evaluating efficacy and managing potential side effects.
    • Provides comprehensive education on diagnosis, treatment options, medication risks, benefits, and alternatives to support informed decision-making.
    • Identifies acute psychiatric crises and coordinates immediate intervention, including referrals to specialized crisis services.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and clinical teams to uphold quality standards and effective care coordination.
    • Coordinates with primary care providers and external healthcare teams to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes.
    • Participates in peer review processes to ensure clinical excellence and continuous improvement in patient care.

Primary Attributes
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
  • Possesses the equivalent of advanced formal training in nursing. Attained a Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program Must know all aspects of the trade as it is performed in the organization, sufficient to effectively train or instruct others, and to serve as a resource to employees.

Continuing Education:
  • Maintains current knowledge of standards of care and practices, typically acquired through continuing education.

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP- BC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMH-BC) with a valid Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) License in the state of West Virginia, and a valid state-issued driver's license are required.

Technical Skills:
  • Prepares basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word. Uses Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information. Creates basic presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint. Demonstrates necessary proficiency with all electronic clinical systems, including EHR and scheduling systems, in use at the Company.

General Development:
  • Displays basic organizational skills to self-prioritize and organize own work. Determines effective responses to situations encountered within established precedent. Able to effectively communicate opinions drawn from conclusions using inference and logic. Exercises tact and diplomacy in resolving mild conflicts or disagreements.

Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a public, customer-facing, high-traffic environment. At times, work may involve working with disruptive or distressed individuals.
