Job Description
Summary of Position
The Maintenance Technician Lead Hand will be responsible for performing preventative and predictive maintenance to all production equipment. In addition to this, they are responsible for being a senior member of the maintenance team, and provide leadership and expertise to Jr. Technicians and to audit PMS completed by other technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts' inventory levels.
  • Perform repairs on equipment to restore it to proper and safe working conditions.
  • Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements.
  • Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Ensure the production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown, or unsafe operating conditions and inform Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams.
  • Always follow LOCK OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced.
  • Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms and organize workplace to comply with housekeeping requirements.
  • Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required.
  • Complete electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Maintenance Supervisor as required by government regulation.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulations always.
  • Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects and special assignments as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety.
  • Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contactors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls and valves.

Qualifications
Skills
  • Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic.
  • Working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contactors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills

Traits
  • Team oriented.
  • High degree of attention to detail, precision and follow through.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shift.
  • Be able to conceive and manage small projects.

Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within related role.

Preferred:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment with multiple priorities
  • A certificate from technical trade school, Military experience in lieu of or related subject
