Job Overview


Cisco Equipment Rentals is seeking a skilled and motivated Shop Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment in a shop environment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities


Equipment Maintenance & Repairs:

Perform routine and preventative maintenance on heavy construction, agricultural, and material handling equipment

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and complete repairs efficiently

Determine parts, tools, and repair methods required for each job


Diagnostics & Parts Coordination:

Work with the Shop Foreman or Service Manager to assess equipment repair needs

Order necessary parts through the parts department and track order status

Follow up on parts availability to minimize repair delays


Documentation & Time Tracking:

Accurately complete time records for each job, including clocking in and out as required

Maintain clear and accurate service records to support billing and internal reporting


Safety & Compliance:

Follow all company safety policies

Ensure all tools and equipment are safe and in proper working condition before use

Report any workplace injuries or safety concerns promptly


Shop Organization & Teamwork:

Maintain a clean and organized work area in and around the shop

Assist other technicians as needed and contribute to a team-oriented environment


Perform additional duties as assigned


Requirements

Qualifications


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical certification in heavy equipment maintenance or mechanics preferred

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair
  • Experience with construction, agricultural, or material handling equipment preferred

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment efficiently

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Tools:

  • Must provide a complete set of personal tools up to " drive
  • Company provides specialty tools, larger equipment, and diagnostic tools

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and tools (up to 75 lbs.)
  • Ability to work in a shop environment, including exposure to noise and varying conditions

Sign-On Bonus


This position is eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus, paid as follows:


$1,500 after 30 days of employment

$1,500 after 6 months of employment


Employees must be actively employed and in good standing at each payment milestone to receive payouts. If employment is voluntarily terminated within 12 months of the start date, or terminated for misconduct or policy violations, repayment of any sign-on bonus amounts received may be required.


Referral Bonus


This position is eligible for the company's Employee Referral Bonus Program. Employees who refer successful candidates may receive up to $3,000, paid in installments over the first year of employment. Referral eligibility is subject to program requirements.
