What is a SIGINT analyst?

A SIGINT Analyst, or Signals Intelligence Analyst, is a professional who collects, analyzes, and interprets electronic signals and communications to provide valuable intelligence for national security, military operations, or law enforcement. They work with various forms of communication, such as radio, satellite, and digital transmissions, to identify threats, monitor activities, and support decision-making processes. Their role often involves using specialized equipment and software to decode and process intercepted signals. SIGINT Analysts play a crucial part in safeguarding information and national interests.

What does a SIGINT analyst do?

As a SIGINT analyst, you examine foreign communication and relay that information to intelligence professionals for strategic or combat purposes. Your responsibilities are to conduct analysis on incoming data, research the party sending the communication, and create reports on your findings for higher-ranking officials. The role of signals intelligence is vital to the protection of the nation. Other duties include camouflaging surveillance systems, identifying operational patterns, and maintaining accurate databases. These jobs are found with the U.S. Army, Air Force, National Guard, or federal counterintelligence agencies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SIGINT analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a SIGINT Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in intelligence, often supported by a relevant degree and security clearance. Proficiency with signal analysis software, cryptographic tools, and classified intelligence databases is typically required. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and effective communication skills help analysts interpret complex signals and share actionable intelligence. These competencies are crucial for ensuring accurate, timely intelligence that supports national security operations.

What are some common challenges faced by SIGINT analysts in their day-to-day work?

SIGINT Analysts often encounter challenges such as rapidly evolving communication technologies, encrypted transmissions, and the sheer volume of data to review. Staying updated with the latest analytical tools and techniques is crucial to effectively extract actionable intelligence. Additionally, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-security environment requires strong attention to detail and collaboration with other intelligence professionals. Overcoming these challenges is key to providing timely and accurate intelligence to support mission objectives.

Job description

SIGINT Analyst

The Opportunity:

Are you energized by solving hard technical problems? Do you get lost, in the best way, in waveforms, network behaviors, and the challenge of uncovering what's hidden in the noise? If decoding complex signals, understanding how systems really communicate, and supporting operational missions at the highest levels excites you, this is the role where your expertise truly matters. As a Technical Signals Analyst, you'll join a highperforming team that tackles some of the most compelling SIGINT and SIGDEV challenges in the mission space. You'll collaborate with analysts who, like you, work directly with RF, binary, packet, and network data and you'll help drive insights that feed real operational outcomes.

This is not theoretical work. It's a deepdive and endtoend mission analysis that often gets briefed at the national level. It's handson, challenging, and intellectually addictive. You'll perform interactions where trust is built and where your technical expertise becomes indispensable. If you're looking for a role where your analysis has immediate impact and where you can continuously grow alongside highly technical teammates, you've found the right team.

On our team, you'll see the full lifecycle mission impact, not just your "piece of the puzzle". You'll join a team of RF specialists, SIGDEV practitioners, and tool developers supporting true endtoend discovery, who are curious, helpful, collaborative, and excited about the work. You'll work flexible hours with strong camaraderie in a non-headquarters, high-trust environment.

What You'll Work On:

  • Analyze analog and digital signals, identify technical patterns, and help uncover how adversary systems communicate.

  • Evaluate network traffic signatures and support technical trending and discovery.

  • Collaborate daily with RF specialists and signals developers who dissect waveforms, packets, and communication protocols.

  • Contribute to highly operational, endtoend mission work that allows you to see the real outcome of your analysis.

  • Travel to client sites in VA 1 to 2 times per week, typically split with another teammate, for highimpact, relationshipdriven meetings.

  • Apply your technical judgment to identify what matters, surface the right insights, and help shape the next stage of analysis.

  • Work in a flexible, collaborative, and highly communicative environment that values curiosity, teamwork, and autonomy.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in SIGINT, SIGDEV, or digital network intelligence, with handson signals analysis

  • Experience with network protocol or traffic analysis, and evaluating communication behaviors

  • Knowledge of how computers and systems communicate whether through RF, packets, or structured and unstructured signaling

  • Ability to interpret technical data, identify meaningful patterns, and support missiondriven analytic decisions

  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with RF concepts, modulation, demodulation, traffic signatures, or waveform behaviors

  • Experience in Linux or commandline environments

  • Experience in technical or networkcentric operations, including NOC, cloud, or infrastructure environments

  • Experience with Visio analysis

  • Experience with MCSAP, SADPP, or other intermediate or advanced signals analysis

  • Possession of excellent scripting skills, including with BASH, Python, or CShell

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
