Job description

Simulation Engineer — Process Engineering

About the Role

We're looking for a Simulation Engineer to join our Process Engineering group, providing robotic and system simulation services. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem-solver who is professional, customer-focused, and results-oriented, with experience leading and motivating teams and partnering with customers to ensure final products exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain robotic simulation in the chosen software (ROBOGUIDE, Process Simulate, Emulate3D, etc.)
  • Ensure proposed solutions meet required capacity parameters such as throughput (JPH), cycle time, and yearly capacity
  • Capture and utilize R&M data (MTTR, MTBF, reject rate, availability) in throughput simulations
  • Identify bottlenecks and present solutions to right size the capacity of an operation
  • Set up the safety scheme of the workcell with other stakeholders
  • Document all aspects of the workcell simulation, including cycle time, robot data sheets, DCS sheets, simulation videos, and payload sheets
  • Attend proposal reviews, project meetings, and design reviews, and support integration and hardware builds

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering, or related area, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Exposure to and basic understanding of PLC and other controls hardware (HMI, safety apparatus, sensors, etc.)
  • Proficient in industry standard simulation software such as Siemens Process Simulate, Rockwell Emulate 3D, Siemens Plant Simulation, or FANUC ROBOGUIDE (equivalent software experience considered)
  • Experience deploying cells using Virtual Commissioning, connecting PLC, HMI, and robot controller virtually to gain accurate cycle time and PLC scan time estimates
  • Experience performing throughput simulations using discrete event simulation software (Siemens Plant Sim, AutoMod, Rockwell Arena)
  • Basic understanding of how AMRs are utilized in the automotive industry, with ability to set up simulation paths
  • Knowledge of safety standards (ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012, ISO 10218-1) and robotic system risk assessment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in process/systems engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in robotic simulation using one of the software listed above

Travel

Up to 30% travel to vendor or customer facilities, including some overnight and international travel as needed.
