Senior CNC Horizontal/Vertical Boring Mill Machinist — Power Generation

Why This Role Matters

Energy systems are changing fast. In our climate-controlled facility, you’ll help the Gas Services division deliver low- and zero-emission power by crafting the tooling and fixtures that keep Steam Turbine, Large Generator, Gas Turbine, and Combustion Components production moving. Your craftsmanship translates ideas into precise, manufacturable solutions.

Impact You’ll Have
  • Own the planning and layout of complex fixtures and machine tools
  • Manufacture, modify, repair, and assemble precision tooling with limited supervision
  • Collaborate with internal customers to design and build development tooling and fixtures
  • Apply both conventional/manual and CNC methods to achieve quality and throughput
  • Specialize in one or more areas: Lathe, VBM, and/or HBM
Core Machining Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC equipment across diverse parts and components
  • Independently run CNC VBM, CNC Lathe, and/or CNC HBM (various control software)
  • Employ tables, workholding, and fixtures to ensure precision
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • High school diploma required; associate’s preferred
  • 3+ years of tool room experience or equivalent proficiency with GD&T
  • Demonstrated CNC capability including machining, offsets, metrology, and depth in at least one: Lathe, Vertical Boring Mill, Horizontal Boring Mill
  • Background in manual machining, setups, tool wear monitoring, G-/M-codes, troubleshooting, and blueprint reading
  • Advanced shop mathematics; ability to interpret complex drawings, blueprints, specifications, and charts; skilled with precision measuring instruments
  • The Career Readiness/Work Keys Certificate – Silver Status required
  • Ability to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests
  • Moderate physical work with occasional heavier lifting
