Industrial Automation & Controls Engineer
Siemens PLC | Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) | Industry 4.0
Location: Indianapolis, IN
We are looking for a hands-on Industrial Automation & Controls Engineer to join our Indianapolis, IN team, to support startup, commissioning, qualification, and troubleshooting activities within regulated manufacturing environments.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with manufacturing systems, solving automation challenges on the plant floor, and supporting the deployment of modern Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT technologies.
You will work with Siemens PLC and HMI platforms, packaged equipment skids, edge technologies, and manufacturing data systems, helping bring new systems online while ensuring compliance, data integrity, and operational readiness.
What You Will Do
  • Provide on-site startup and commissioning support for industrial automation systems
  • Troubleshoot Siemens PLC and HMI applications in live manufacturing environments
  • Support Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) activities, including platform qualification, security testing, and data access validation
  • Validate MQTT data flows and edge device integrations
  • Support the integration of packaged equipment skids into larger manufacturing systems
  • Collaborate with OEMs, equipment vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues
  • Create and maintain documentation supporting regulated manufacturing environments and audit readiness
  • Contribute to Industry 4.0 and Unified Namespace architecture initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 4+ years of automation engineering experience within manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC and HMI systems
  • Experience supporting startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system integration activities
  • Familiarity with validation concepts, C&Q documentation, and regulated manufacturing environments
  • Working knowledge of MQTT, Industrial IoT, edge devices, or related technologies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation or mixed-platform environments
  • Experience integrating packaged equipment skids
  • Experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing industries
  • Exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies or Unified Namespace architecture
