Equipment Rental Store Manager

Chet’s Rent-All is a family-owned, equipment and tool rental company serving contractors, homeowners, and hands-on project enthusiasts across the greater Detroit area since 1946. We are seeking a dynamic Equipment Rental Store Manager to lead our branch operations, drive sales, and ensure outstanding rental experience for our clients. Safety is at the core of everything we do. We are committed to maintaining a well-inspected, well-maintained fleet and promoting responsible equipment use to protect our customers and team members.

The Equipment Rental Store Manager is accountable for the overall leadership, operational excellence, and commercial success of the rental branch. This role serves as a key liaison between sales leadership and rental operations, ensuring consistent performance, strong customer service, safe work practices, and efficient rental processes. The manager will maximize revenue, expand customer relationships, and drive profitable growth through effective management of personnel, equipment assets, and daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of rental coordinators, service technicians, yard associates, and drivers.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, responsiveness, and customer focused service.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety policies; foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Oversee daily rental operations to ensure equipment availability, readiness, and efficient dispatch.
  • Monitor fleet performance, utilization, and demand to maximize ROI.
  • Coordinate with service technicians for timely inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Manage equipment lifecycle planning, including acquisition, rotation, and disposal strategies.
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, rental statuses, and inventory controls.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Drive store sales through local marketing, strategic planning, and customer relationship management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, project managers, and key accounts.
  • Provide training in equipment knowledge, customer service, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain professional appearance and organization of the store, yard, and equipment areas.
  • Manage budgets, revenue forecasts, and cost controls; analyze financial reports and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in equipment rental management or related operational leadership roles.
  • Valid driver's license required / Chauffeur license preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
