Short Form Content information

What is a short form content creator?

A short form content creator is someone who specializes in producing brief, engaging pieces of digital content, typically ranging from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. This content is designed for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and similar social media channels. The goal is to quickly capture the audience's attention and encourage interaction, often using trends, humor, or visually appealing elements. Short form content creators need to be creative, adaptable, and up-to-date with platform algorithms and audience preferences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a short form content creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Short Form Content Creator, you need strong skills in video editing, content ideation, and a keen understanding of social media trends, usually supported by experience with digital platforms. Proficiency with editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or mobile apps, and familiarity with analytics systems is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to engage audiences quickly are vital soft skills in this role. These abilities help ensure content is both high-quality and optimized for rapid consumption, driving views, shares, and audience growth in a competitive digital landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals creating short form content, and how can they be addressed?

One of the main challenges in short form content creation is capturing the audience's attention quickly and effectively within a limited time frame. Creators must balance creativity with brevity, ensuring messages are clear and engaging. Additionally, staying updated on rapidly changing trends and platform algorithms can be demanding. Collaborating closely with marketing teams, analyzing performance metrics, and continuously experimenting with new formats can help overcome these challenges and improve content impact.

Social Media Growth Lead

barre3

Portland, OR

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, PTO

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Growth Lead owns barre3's organic social growth end to end - creating the content, growing the audience, cultivating creator and community partnerships, and turning social reach into brand affinity, subscribers, and members. This is a builder's role: you conceive and produce native social content, activate creators and members to extend that reach, test relentlessly, and grow our channels as a measurable acquisition and retention engine - not a content calendar to be filled.

You live where culture and the barre3 brand meet. You know how to capture attention without resorting to chaotic trend-chasing or punitive fitness tropes. You make the video, write the hook, line up the right creator, and know within a day whether it worked - then do more of what does. Working in close partnership with the brand creative team to stay on-brand, you are the creative force and the growth owner behind barre3's social presence.

* Primary residence must be in the greater Portland area

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation

  • Conceive, shoot, and edit native short-form video (Reels, TikToks, Stories) built specifically for platform mechanics rather than repurposed marketing collateral.
  • Own content creation from hook to publish: scripting, filming, editing, and caption writing, maintaining a high velocity of testing and iteration.
  • Partner with Brand Creative to maintain visual standards while producing at social speed, adhering to non-punitive language and grounded visual aesthetics.
  • Capture real, authentic content across studios, HQ events, instructors, and members.

Audience Growth

  • Own follower and audience growth across Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms as the primary mandate of the role.
  • Develop and execute the organic growth strategy: content pillars, posting cadence, format bets, and platform-specific tactics.
  • Build and run a continuous testing loop - hooks, formats, hashtags, posting times - and reallocate effort toward what drives reach and follows.

Growth-to-Pipeline

  • Connect social growth to business outcomes - trial starts, subscriber sign-ups, and studio interest - partnering with the performance marketing team to measure social's contribution to acquisition and retention.
  • Design and run organic-to-conversion plays (link-in-bio strategy, campaign tie-ins, sale moments like the Semi-Annual Sale) that turn audience into members.
  • Surface high-performing organic and creator content as fuel for paid amplification.

Trend & Culture Fluency

  • Stay ahead of platform shifts, formats, and cultural moments; move fast to participate where barre3 authentically fits.
  • Monitor conversation and sentiment, feeding insight back to creative, lifecycle, and brand.
  • Maintain light-touch community engagement to sustain momentum, routing formal support questions to the customer service function (this role grows and engages the audience; it does not run the support queue).

Creator, Influencer & UGC Partnerships

  • Own barre3's influencer and creator program end to end - sourcing, vetting, and building relationships with creators, ambassadors, and micro-influencers aligned to the brand and audience.
  • Brief, coordinate, and manage partnerships: creative direction, deliverables, timelines, usage rights, and (with the relevant partners) contracting and compensation.
  • Build and run a UGC engine - solicit, curate, and amplify content from members and the community, securing rights and turning authentic customer content into a repeatable social and campaign asset.
  • Activate creator and UGC partnerships around key moments (product launches, the Semi-Annual Sale, seasonal campaigns) and coordinate with studios/franchise where local creators or member stories are involved.
  • Track partnership performance - reach, engagement, cost per result, and downstream conversion - and reinvest in what works.

Reporting & Optimization

  • Own the social growth dashboard: audience growth, reach, engagement, save/share rates, creator/UGC performance, and downstream conversion.
  • Report performance and learnings on a regular cadence and translate them into the next content bets.

KPIs

  • Audience Growth: Net follower growth and reach across channels - the primary measure of the role.
  • Content Performance: Views, watch-through, saves, and shares on created content, with a focus on what drives new-audience reach.
  • Creator & UGC Impact: Reach, engagement, and cost-per-result from influencer/creator partnerships and volume of usable UGC generated.
  • Growth-to-Conversion: Social's measurable contribution to trial starts and subscriber/member sign-ups.
  • Output & Velocity: Consistent volume of original, platform-native content shipped.
  • Sentiment / Share of Voice: Brand conversation trend over time.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Core Value Alignment: Must embody the barre3 values - Practice Authenticity, Stronger Together, Love of Learning, Give Generously, and Make It Happen.
  • 3+ years creating social content and growing brand channels, ideally in fitness, wellness, lifestyle, or a creator-driven consumer brand - with a demonstrable track record of audience growth.
  • Experience running influencer, creator, or UGC programs - sourcing partners, briefing creative, and managing the relationship end to end.
  • Hands-on content creation skills: shooting and editing short-form video (native tools, CapCut, Adobe, or equivalent), writing scroll-stopping hooks and captions.
  • Fluency in TikTok and Instagram growth mechanics; comfortable reading analytics and running a test-and-learn loop.
  • A portfolio or reel of content you personally created and grew.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Creator Instinct: You make content people stop for - and you know how to spot others who can too.
  • Relationship Builder: Can source, brief, and manage creator and influencer partnerships that feel authentic, not transactional.
  • Growth Mindset: You treat channels as something to grow, not maintain - hypothesis, test, measure, iterate.
  • Speed & Volume: Comfortable shipping fast and often; you'd rather post ten and learn than perfect one.
  • Brand Judgment: Can stay authentically on-brand while producing at social pace.
  • Commercial Sense: You see the line from a Reel to a trial start and optimize toward it.
  • Self-Direction: Owns the channel and the growth number without hand-holding.
