Lifeway is seeking a Production Editor for the Bible Studies for Life Preschool curriculum to ensure published content is accurate, polished, and ready for the hands of the Church. In this role, you will edit content for grammar, style, and punctuation; edit select content for biblical accuracy, theological soundness, and readability; prepare files across print, digital, and multimedia formats,; and support the end-to-end production workflow that brings Lifeway resources to life.

Responsibilities
- Lives out Lifeway's mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
Edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, and alignment with Lifeway style and brand guidelines within agreed-upon deadlines
Verify biblical and factual accuracy and correlate copy across related materials, escalating complex or nuanced theological issues to content editor or to senior team members as needed
Proofread files for accuracy, consistency, and required corrections, then advance files to the next step in the production workflow
Convert writer files into InCopy stories and load appropriate style sheets
Export files to PDF for internal review, external appraisal, or digital delivery
Perform quality assurance on electronic files by following established production and workflow best practices
Perform production tasks, coordinate updates as assigned, and prepare recurring product features for age groups' leader guides, kids activity pages, leader packs, and CD Printables
Enlist writers for Leader Bible Studies and work with the team to edit and prepare
Support contributors and internal partners by maintaining accurate documentation and consistent editorial processes
Stay current on church practices and audience trends to inform editorial decisions
Collaborate with editors, designers, team leads, and cross-functional partners to meet deadlines and uphold content quality
- Limited travel: 2-4 times per year, typically overnight
Education
Associate degree in English, Communications, Publishing, or a related field with experience, required
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field with experience, preferred
Master's degree in a related field, not required
Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.), not required

- 1+ years of editorial, publishing, or technical production experience
- Demonstrated excellence in editing, proofreading, and attention to detail across grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, and digital production workflows
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies, and formatting issues
- Clear written communication skills with ability to document edits, flag questions, and support smooth production handoffs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with editors, designers, and cross-functional production stakeholders
- Ability to travel to the Middle Tennessee area 2-4 times annually for team gatherings
Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church
