Reporting to the General Manager, Maintenance, the Shop Foreman plays a crucial role in ensuring that the shop operates smoothly, deadlines are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed.


Job Description:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mechanical shop
  • Plan and coordinate workflow to meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Assign tasks to mechanics and ensure they are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Manage parts, monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Inspect equipment and machinery for maintenance and repairs
  • Execute bi-annual employee performance reviews
  • Train and mentor staff to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise in the shop
  • Communicate with management and other departments to coordinate activities
  • Prepare and provide divisional reports by deadline
  • Keep accurate records of work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Valid Red Seal or Interprovincial Journeyman's Certificate as a HD Mechanic.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Extensive technical background.
  • Proven experience as a Shop Foreman or similar role in a mechanical shop environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft office suite skills are an asset
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
