Job description

Our client is a trusted and growing concrete-cutting and selective-demolition contractor serving commercial and industrial clients throughout the Raleigh–Durham region and surrounding areas. Known for their commitment to safety, integrity, and quality workmanship, they offer a wide range of services including flat sawing, wall and wire sawing, core drilling, hand-sawing, selective demolition, and concrete removal and repair.
 
As their team continues to grow, our client is seeking a hardworking and dependable Construction Helper to support Operators in performing concrete sawing, drilling, cutting, and selective demolition services. This position is physically demanding and requires a strong work ethic, a focus on safety, and a willingness to learn. Helpers assist with transporting equipment, preparing jobsites, handling materials, maintaining tools.
Essential Functions
  • Jobsite Support
  • Assist Operators in setting up and transporting equipment to/from jobsites.
  • Assist in preparing jobsites by unloading tools, staging equipment.
  • Assist in handling debris, slurry, and material removal from work areas.
 
  • Equipment and Vehicle Care
  • Transport equipment daily between the yard and job sites.
  • Assist in cleaning tools, equipment, and vehicles daily to ensure readiness for the next job.
  • Assist Operators in basic preventive maintenance tasks and inspections.
  • Report equipment issues promptly to Operators or the shop mechanic by using Tyfoom forms
  • Manage personal expendables usage
 
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Comply with company safety procedures and OSHA regulations diligently.
  • Wear required PPE consistently 
  • Assist in setting up barricades, signage, and other safety controls on jobsites.
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analysis with operator on each job after work is reviewed with site contact. 
  • Review safety plan with operator to assess need for respirator use when performing tasks that require respirator use
  • Assess safety risks with operator associated with working in extreme environments (take breaks in heat) 
  • Use tools and equipment when possible, to minimize physical exertion and risk of injury
  • Report near misses 
  • Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner at all times
  • Learn safe use of equipment with body positioning, keeping guarding on tools, using mounted drills when necessary, etc.
 
  • Administration & Communication
  • Support Operators in completing job-related paperwork 
  • Turn receipts in in a timely manner
  • Communicate respectfully with team members, clients, and supervisors.
  • Report progress, challenges, and delays to the Operator or Field Manager.

  • Develop proficiency in basic concrete sawing, drilling, and demolition tasks.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous construction or labor experience helpful but not required.
  • Strong physical stamina.
  • Willing to work in weather conditions that may be adverse (hot/cold/rain)
