Job description

Pine Tree Country Club, located in Birmingham, AL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a part-time Tennis Shop Attendant! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Summary:
Ideal candidates are highly motivated, customer service-centric, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Tennis Shop Attendants offer friendly and expedient service to the property's guests and assist the tennis professional staff in shop operations, merchandise sales, and other related activities. Beginners are welcome — while knowledge of tennis is preferred, previous experience is not required for the position. Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with availability to work weekends, holidays, and busy seasons, as needed.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs opening and closing procedures for the shop or store as determined by management
  • Ensures accountability for POS transactions
  • Collects applicable fees from members, guests, and outside patrons as they arrive
  • Makes court, clinic, lesson, and special event reservations, in person or by phone
  • Assists guests by selling merchandise and providing information in a professional manner
  • Assists with rotating stock and keeping displays clean and orderly
  • Assists with general cleaning of the shop or store
  • Assists shop supervisor with creating appealing displays
  • Assists with monthly physical inventories
  • May work with coaches to facilitate orderly start and play times
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance
  • Performs other duties as required or needed
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., the associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English)
  • Ideal candidate will be an active tennis player with knowledge of the game
  • Retail sales experience is preferred
  • Computer proficiency including, but not limited to, POS, Microsoft Office applications, social media, and other programs related to tennis such as tennisdirector.com or ClubAutomation
Working Conditions:
  • Frequently stands and uses hands, reaches with hands and arms, and talks or hears
  • Regularly walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Noise level is moderate
