NSC Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Senior Maritime Project Manager to lead complex marine vessel construction and repair projects from concept through delivery. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to inspire collaboration across engineering, production, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and client representatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Senior Maritime Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring schedule performance, quality, safety, and team engagement.
Position Overview
The Senior Maritime Project Manager is responsible for guiding vessel fabrication, assembly, and delivery while maintaining compliance with Classification Society standards and USCG requirements. This leader cultivates a positive, inclusive work environment and serves as both mentor and role model, empowering teams to achieve excellence through open communication and shared success.
Key Responsibilities
Team Collaboration & Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire cross?functional project teams.
  • Promote a culture grounded in trust, respect, communication, and professional growth.
  • Facilitate collaboration with vessel owners, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and internal departments.
  • Encourage open idea-sharing and inclusive decision?making.
Project Management & Execution
  • Oversee all phases of steel vessel construction, from planning through delivery.
  • Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets while proactively identifying risks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vessel owners, representing team achievements and project progress.
  • Ensure compliance with Classification Society and USCG standards.
  • Uphold company safety policies and industry best practices at all times.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Impact
  • Drive innovation and process improvements using team insights and operational data.
  • Prepare and present progress updates, milestone reviews, and performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Foster an environment that encourages continuous learning and operational excellence.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of maritime project management experience, including team leadership.
  • Strong background in steel vessel construction, material flow, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to unite and lead diverse teams, manage subcontractors, and collaborate cross?functionally.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem?solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic shipyard environments and adapt to evolving project needs.

Physical Demands
  • Correctable vision to 20/40; color?vision testing required where applicable.
  • Must pass pulmonary function testing for respirator-required areas.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, climb ladders/stairs, and perform overhead work.
  • Must work in confined spaces and maneuver through 18" x 23" openings.
  • Ability to work at heights exceeding 50 feet when necessary.
  • Must lift and carry tools/equipment up to 75 lbs.

Work Demands
  • Requires PPE including hardhat, respirator, goggles, steel?toe shoes, safety harness, and others as needed.
  • Must report injuries, incidents, and equipment issues promptly.
  • Work may occur indoors/outdoors in shipyard environments, including extreme temperatures and noisy conditions.
  • Work pace must align with project deadlines and production demands.
