Job description

Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for managing all shipping, receiving, stockroom, inventory, and related logistics activities to ensure the accurate and timely movement of materials and finished goods. This position serves as the primary point of contact for all shipping and receiving operations and works closely with Customer Service, Production, Materials, and Management to meet customer delivery requirements.

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor has the authority to direct and coordinate factory personnel assigned to assist with shipping, receiving, inventory, loading, unloading, packaging, and stockroom activities as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control and stockroom management.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and shipping software.
  • Experience using UPS WorldShip, FedEx shipping systems, and LTL freight carrier portals.
  • Ability to use inspection equipment including tape measures, calipers, thickness gauges, and durometers.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment as required, including fork lift.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials and packages as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shipping Operations

  • Review daily open orders and establish shipping priorities in coordination with Management and Customer Service.
  • Ensure all customer orders are shipped accurately, completely, and on time.
  • Process shipments utilizing UPS WorldShip, FedEx, LTL carriers, and other transportation methods.
  • Verify customer-specific packaging, labeling, documentation, and shipping requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain all required shipping documentation.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups and freight scheduling.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, damages, and shipping-related concerns.
  • Review shop orders, work instructions, and packaging requirements to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Approve and sign shipping and final inspection documentation as required.

Receiving Operations

  • Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials and supplies.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of trucks and deliveries.
  • Ensure incoming materials are properly identified, documented, and routed to the appropriate department.
  • Communicate receiving discrepancies to Purchasing, Materials, or Management for resolution.

Inventory and Stockroom Management

  • Maintain the organization and accuracy of the stockroom and shipping areas.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment requirements to the Materials team.
  • Maintain stock records, inventory cards, and related documentation.
  • Assist with physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory audits.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective actions.
  • Pull and distribute materials required for production operations.

Department Coordination and Leadership

  • Coordinate and direct employees assigned to assist with shipping, receiving, packaging, inventory, or stockroom activities.
  • Assist in training employees on shipping, receiving, quality, safety, inventory, and company procedures.
  • Provide guidance regarding shipping priorities, packaging requirements, and material movement throughout the facility.
  • Communicate effectively with Customer Service, Production, Materials, Purchasing, and Management to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Assist Management in identifying opportunities to improve shipping efficiency, inventory accuracy, workflow, and customer service.

Quality and Compliance

  • Follow and support all company quality policies, ISO procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with customer specifications and company quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.

Safety and Housekeeping

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Ensure all safety rules, regulations, and company policies are followed.
  • Report unsafe conditions and assist with corrective actions.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout shipping, receiving, stockroom, and warehouse areas.

Additional Responsibilities

Pay: Starting from $22.00 per hour, more based on experience
