Job description

Shipping Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee general shipping activities and manage the shipping staff
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the shipping department
  • Make sure all processes and procedures are being followed, issuing corrective action when needed
  • Manage the loading and unloading of trucks, including physically moving bread/bun stacks to the shipping dock
  • Inspect incoming shipments and manage discrepancies
  • Operate electric pallet jacks
  • Generate BOL's and ensure seals are applied and tracked to trailers carrying ingredients
  • Collaborate effectively with the dispatch department
  • Communicate and attempt to resolve shortages
  • Monitor accuracy and productivity of shipping staff
  • Oversee the scheduling and timecard approval of shipping staff

Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented with strong multitasking skills
  • Thrives in fast paced environment with a proven ability to solve problems
  • Excellent communication and follow up skills
  • Proficient in managing day-to-day operations and using computer systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking on concrete floors and trailer beds
  • Occasional pushing/pulling of transport racks and bread trays
  • Regular bending, stopping, twisting, reaching, lifting, and carrying
  • Handling and grasping bakery product trays, transport racks, and boxes
  • Frequently lifting and/or moving items up to 50lbs.
