1st Shift Shipping Clerk

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to coordinate daily shipping operations and maintain an efficient finished goods shipping schedule. This role works closely with the Production Coordinator, Shipping team, and Loading personnel to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, on time, and with maximum load efficiency. The ideal candidate is organized, communicates effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain the finished goods shipping schedule.
  • Schedule carrier appointments and loading times while balancing daily shipping priorities.
  • Ensure trucks are loaded accurately, completely, and efficiently.
  • Enter shipping information into company databases and maintain accurate shipping records.
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding shipping status and order updates.
  • Research and resolve shipping issues using company databases and shipping records.
  • Determine appropriate shipping methods based on product requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Verify shipment quantities, products, and documentation prior to shipment.
  • Receive incoming materials from common carriers by inspecting shipments, matching packing slips, updating receiving logs, and notifying recipients.
  • Arrange outbound shipments and communicate tracking information to appropriate departments and customers.
  • Create pick lists and coordinate material transfers for finishing operations in Tecate, ensuring accurate loading and communication with the Tecate Shipping Department.
  • Record billet receiving information, including cast numbers, chemical composition, and quantities.
  • Coordinate customer-owned material transfers for processing or return by accurately logging materials and communicating details to internal departments.
  • Support the shipping department by maintaining effective communication with Customer Service, Production, and other internal teams.
  • Update shipping and order information in the EPICS system.
  • Monitor order status, due dates, and schedule changes to ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Identify and communicate unusual or out-of-the-ordinary situations to management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support department and company objectives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to six months of related shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and experience entering and maintaining data in business systems (EPICS experience preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in shipments, purchase orders, and documentation.
  • Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
