Team Leader - Shipping Department
General Purpose:
Supports, trains and responds to team members primarily during the peak production months. Performs problem solving and improvement kaizen activities. Performs general production work in non-peak seasons.
Essential Functions:
  • Actively engages and encourages involvement of team members in improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts hour x hour, standardized work, and problem-solving documentation.
  • Encourages safe behavior and 5s housekeeping activities.
  • Ensures measurable improvement to goals.
  • Facilitate quick response to problems.
  • Required to perform general production work in non-peak seasons.
  • Maintains daily communication with Group Leader and team members.
  • Maintains effective communication and cooperation with all other shifts and Team Leaders.
  • Performs problem identification and kaizen activities.
  • Support training initiatives of team members in standardized work through job instruction (JI).
  • Uses job instruction (JI) training method, where applicable.
  • Utilizes a structured approach to problem solving including regular reflections.
  • Works with Group Leader to ensure that quality criteria is followed and quality checks are completed appropriately using standardized work, job instruction (JI), and quality criteria.
  • Performs other duties as requested

Skills and Abilities:
  • One to three years work experience in a manufacturing environment which demonstrates performance competency.
  • Successfully completed Fleetwood Performance System training or equivalent development.
  • Must be able to meet the minimum requirements of the jobs represented in the appropriate department.
  • Demonstrated initiative to lead others for improved performance and consistently demonstrated job performance that exceeds expectations.
  • Must be able to perform all jobs in zone and adjacent zones within Takt Time and to standardized work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including ability to challenge team members/peers appropriately to follow standards.
  • Ability to appropriately apply FPS technical tools, i.e., standardized work, job instructions, work balance chart, time observations. etc.
  • Knowledge of and ability to explain the 4 Philosophies of FPS, True North, FPS tools and their relation to one another (pocket card).
  • Ability to practice and document kaizen (PDCA).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach others, build effective relationships, flexibility and ability to implement and manage change effectively.
  • Exhibits a willingness to help others, eagerness to learn, and uses a Servant Leadership style.
