Job description

Ship Store Attendant 

Department: Marina  

Exemption Status: Non-exempt 

Pay Grade: $15.00 per hour

Location: All GLC Properties 

Position Summary — The Ship store completes jobs and maintains the Marina store is safe and sanitary conditions. Ship Store is responsible for engaging with customers and maintaining a well-organized retail store. Their duties include greeting customers and providing them with recommendations on products, unpacking product orders while maintaining accurate inventory records and performing routine cleaning procedures before and after business hours.  

Essential Functions — An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Clean the store and ensure products are properly displayed before the store opens. 

  • Organize merchandise on shelves and restock them when they become empty. 

  • Find and retrieve store merchandise. 

  • Advise customers concerning products or services. 

  • Perform routine inventory counts and submit reports to Lodge and Ship Store Manager  

  • Carry out other store administrative tasks as directed by the Lodge and Ship Store Manager. 

  • Upsell to customers through recommendations. 

  • Assists other Dockmasters' in marina related duties such as securing boats to docks and ensuring safety of others at the facility. 

  • Insures that work assignments disbursed are accomplished. 

  • Perform administrative duties (i.e., correspondence, messages, memos, telephone contacts, etc.) for Lodge and Ship Store Manager. 

  • Provides appropriate assistance to customers, vendors, officials and staff. 

  • Routinely inspects and ensures above average appearance of facility. 

  • Communicates with customers and potential customers and guests in a professional manner at all times. Helps resolves customer disputes in a manner consistent with Grand Lake Casino. Refers all disputes outside scope of abilities to Lodge and Ship Store Manager.  

  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned. 

  • Operate hand tools, identify building materials and machinery needed to complete projects in a timely manner. 

  • Cleans up after each job and puts tools and equipment in their place. 

  • Develop and maintain a friendly, courteous rapport with customers and staff. 

  • Has the ability to work with others to complete special projects or task assigned daily, weekly, or routinely. 

  • Performs and completes all jobs assigned in a professional manner. 

  • Follows GLC policies and procedures. 

Qualifications   

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and dock attendant work experience preferred. General boat knowledge, handling and terminology a plus. Candidates with previous customer service employment experience are preferred.

Other Requirements — Required to obtain and maintain a Seneca Cayuga tribal gaming license and a state issued I.D. All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment. Must be at least 18 years of age. 

Physical Requirements — Possess the physical stamina and capability to perform various tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods, and engaging in physically demanding activities to ensure the effective upkeep of the facility. Must be able to reach, push and pull with hands and arms, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. 

Work Environment — Grand Lake Casino is a drug and alcohol-free workplace; Must be able to work in a casino environment which includes high levels of smoke, dust, noise, and bright flashing lights. 

Special Working Conditions — Working conditions include maintaining both interior and exterior areas of the Marina, adaptability to outdoor working conditions, including exposure to varying weather elements, as part of the comprehensive efforts to ensure the facility's overall upkeep.
