Job description

Project site is currently TBD.
The General Superintendent/Construction Manager position will supervise assigned project activities, including overseeing all field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, subcontractors and suppliers. The GS/CM will coordinate and work in conjunction with the Project Manager leading the project team. Specific responsibilities are:
  • Monitor subcontractors and trades to meet deadlines and milestones of aggressively paced project schedules
  • Must have strong background knowledge of CSA and/or MEP construction methods.
  • Must have experience with large scale cast-in-place concrete projects.
  • Must work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other superintendents
  • Review construction drawings and shop drawings for job feasibility
  • Ensure adherence to strict safety standards ensuring Subcontractors are properly trained and knowledgeable with OSHA and safety related areas
  • Completion of daily and weekly Project Reports
  • Responsible for daily reporting in construction management software
  • Document status of project with digital photographs daily
  • Must be able to properly receive purchased materials
  • Prepare change orders as required
  • Responsible for QA and punch list generation with Subcontractors

Requirements:
  • Ability to effectively use a computer and required software (Procore, Microsoft Office, MS Project)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local building codes and safety laws
  • Knowledge of permitting, review and inspection process
  • Ability to monitor and respond to multiple scopes of work occurring simultaneously
  • Ability to forecast scheduling challenges and present possible solutions
  • Ability to complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to be alert to all that is taking place on the job site.
  • Ability to show truthfulness and honesty in all situations.
  • Ability to be decisive and to recognize key factors and provide input to make difficult decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience as an on-site Superintendent/Construction Manager; experience with above listed responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of construction trades with focus on sitework, concrete, steel, MEP, and interior finishes.
  • Experience with cast in place concrete and shotcrete is strongly preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company's auto insurance policy. DMV checks performed annually.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field is preferred. Minimum requirement is a High School diploma, with 15+ years of related experience.
