Wage Range: $56.61 - $99.11 per hour.  The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role.  Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, applicable education and internal equity.

JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Adheres to all hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care.  Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence.    Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation, and continuing education.  Evaluates staff performance in accordance with organizational policies.  Participates in nursing Quality Improvement.  Maintains unit administration including scheduling and maintenance of supplies and equipment.  Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license.  Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six months of hire date or transfer date of internal applicants.  Minimum of 3 years acute nursing experience with demonstrated leadership skills.  Requires NIHSS Stroke Certification within 90 days of hire date.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Capable organizational ability and leadership skills.  Demonstrated clinical nursing skills across the life span.  Knowledge and ability to apply current theories, techniques, and practices of nursing within his/her specialty area.  Competent cardiac monitoring skills, including use of equipment.

Critical thinking skills in the planning and administration of department resources.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease and risk of injury from lifting patients and operation of equipment.

WORK CONTACT GROUP:  All patient-related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel, and medical staff.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, lift and transport patients.  Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull.  Walks and stands for most of the working day.

COORDINATES:   RN, NAC, Technicians and Health Unit Coordinators

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TECHNICAL

  1. Demonstrates competent clinical nursing skills across the life span including identification of changes in patient status.
  2. Demonstrates a collaborative leadership style using opportunities to empower employees by in decision making processes as appropriate.
  3. Collaborative approach across department, service unit, and organizational boundaries.
  4. Participates in hiring processes.
  5. Coordinates teamwork and cooperation of patient care activities, patient assignments, and staff assistance.
  6. Oral and written communication is clear, constructive, consistent, and conducive to positive interactions between individuals and groups. Demonstrates good listening skills and seeks feedback.   Assures mutual understanding.
  7. Attends and participates in department staff meetings, role specific meetings and other meetings as agreed.
  8. Provides timely performance feedback to employees, and input on performance reviews as requested.
  9. Identifies staff educational gaps and participates in activities to advance employee skills and knowledge.
  10. Monitors competency training, provides support, and assures processes are completed.
  11. Supports, develops and/or manages the department schedule including vacation coverage, sick/health leave coverage, etc.
  12. Coordinates patient assignments and facilitates patient flow processes between departments. Adjusts staffing and assignments concurrently and for oncoming shifts to census, patient needs, and productivity requirements.
  13. Coordinates breaks and oversees workflow to assure timely patient care.
  14. Manages efficient department shift changes while assuring compliance with departmental standards.
  15. Engages in and encourages others to use the hospital safety reporting system per hospital policy in a timely and objective manner.
  16. Participates in departmental quality improvement processes to improve employee performance and promotes positive patient outcomes.
  17. Assists staff with troubleshooting of processes including IT, Plant Ops, BioMed, etc.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW.
