General Job Description:

Sets up and operates punch press including blanking, drawing, forming, perforating, etc. Controls proper safety devices, feeds the material into dies and keeps stock well lubricated. Procures proper dies, sets up punch presses and feeds for all types of materials. All types of dies may be set up including compound, multiple, closing, trimming, shearing, drawing, perforating, cut-off, shimmy, coining, extruding, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read blue prints a must.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English
  • Ability to use shop math
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must supply own tools


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time
  • May involve repetitive motions
  • Due to open environment of warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold

Specific Duties:

  1. Ensure Punch Press is in full operation during the required work hours
  2. Inspect material; checking for type and measuring dimensions using a micrometer and a QA tag.
  3. Shear material using a "Traveler"
  4. Make the part according to specifications on dimension and quantity
  5. Measure blank or strip using measurement tape or dial caliper
  6. Use shearing machine as per drawing or instructions
  7. Set up the punch press (under supervision if necessary) and punch first part
  8. Ensure that inspection of first and last piece is done by operator and QA
  9. Run job and check parts using SPC
  10. Tumble parts and remove burrs
  11. Spot weld parts, if necessary
  12. Inspect part according to print
  13. Get QA approval of part.
  14. Manufacture and inspect part to blueprint
  15. Upkeep daily preventative maintenance log
