How much do shaver jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 9, 2026, the average hourly pay for shaver in the United States is $16.57, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.90 and $18.51 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are shavers and what do they do?

Shavers are professionals who specialize in removing hair from animals or people using manual or electric razors. In the context of animal care, such as with sheep, shavers (often called shearers) trim wool or fur for health, hygiene, or commercial use. In barbershops or salons, shavers may refer to those who provide close shaves and beard grooming for clients. The job requires skill, precision, and attention to safety to avoid injury or discomfort. Shavers often maintain and clean their tools to ensure proper hygiene.

What are some common challenges faced by shavers in a manufacturing environment and how can they be addressed?

Shavers in manufacturing often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent product quality, managing the physical demands of repetitive tasks, and adhering to strict safety protocols. To address these, it's important to develop strong attention to detail, practice proper ergonomics to reduce fatigue, and stay up to date with safety training. Regular communication with team members and supervisors can also help quickly resolve issues and ensure a smooth workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Shaver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Shaver, you need strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and experience with trimming, smoothing, or finishing materials such as leather, hides, or textiles, often gained through on-the-job training or vocational programs. Familiarity with hand tools, specialized shaving machines, and safety equipment is typically required. Reliability, focus, and teamwork help individuals excel in meeting production standards and maintaining quality. These skills ensure efficient processing, high-quality output, and a safe working environment in manufacturing or processing facilities.

Both roles are essential in grooming establishments, but their scope and credentials differ.

ABOUT PICK & CHEESE
Pick & Cheese is the world's first cheese conveyor belt restaurant. It is a fun, modern twist on British dining that invites guests to explore and discover incredible British cheeses paired with hand-picked wines and small plates. THE ROLE
As a Host, you'll be the first face of Pick & Cheese-welcoming, guiding, and connecting with our guests to ensure every visit feels both effortless and unforgettable. More than just a greeter, our Hosts embody the spirit of New York hospitality: energetic, knowledgeable, and approachable. WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Greet and welcome guests with professionalism, warmth, and personality.
  • Answer phones with a warm personality and a smile in your voice.
  • Make reservations for guests (Resy), verify existing reservations, and guide guests to alternative times and dates for those times that are fully booked.
  • Provide clear directions and prompt answers to questions, always with a guest-first mindset.
  • Assist with opening, closing, and side duties to keep the hall operating smoothly.
  • Support cleanliness by ensuring walkways and common areas are inviting and safe.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a seamless guest experience across shifts.
  • Communicate guest feedback and questions to management to continuously elevate our service.
  • Represent the Pick & Cheese brand with pride, positivity, and genuine hospitality.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior hospitality or restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
  • A natural communicator-bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Energetic, fun, and passionate about delivering memorable guest experiences.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift to 50 lbs.

THE GOOD STUFF
  • Medical benefits available for hourly team members averaging 30+ hours/week (after 90 days).
  • 401(k) eligibility after one year of service (for individuals 21+).
  • Be part of New York's newest cultural destination-help us bring Pick & Cheese to life every day.

Why Join Us?
