Position Summary

Bartenders at JAG craft elevated, consistent beverages while delivering warm, anticipatory hospitality. You’ll master our cocktail specs, guide guests through spirits, wine, and beer, and keep the bar running smoothly through peak service. Speed with precision, strong product knowledge, and a guest-first mindset are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Hospitality

  • Welcome guests, present menus, and make thoughtful, personalized recommendations.

· Navigate allergies and dietary restrictions accurately; confirm ingredients and prevent cross-contact at the bar.

  • Build checks with integrity through pairings, features, and upselling that fits the guest’s preferences.
  • Provide timely, attentive service at the bar and to service-well tickets; manage pacing and priorities.
  • Guide guests through cocktail, wine, and spirit selections with confident, honest recommendations; offer thoughtful pairings and tastings.

· Anticipate needs (water refills, napkins, menu cues, second round timing) without being prompted; maintain attentive but unintrusive service.

Beverage Execution & Consistency

  • Prepare cocktails to exact specs, measurements, and techniques (shake/stir/build/batch).
  • Maintain knowledge of classic and house cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options.
  • Taste for quality (where permitted), verify garnishes/ice, and ensure proper glassware.

Bar Prep & Mise en Place

  • Complete daily prep: juices, syrups, infusions, garnishes, kegs/CO2 checks, and par levels.
  • Keep the bar station stocked, clean, and organized; polish glassware and tools.
  • Set and break down the service well and back bar to readiness standards.

· Keep the bar top spotless and organized at all times; maintain a welcoming, polished atmosphere from open to close.

Inventory, Cost & Cash Controls

  • Follow accurate pouring and measurement to protect COGS and maintain yield.
  • Assist with inventory counts, requisitions, transfers, and receiving.
  • Adhere to comps/voids/discount procedures; handle cash and payments per policy.

Cleanliness, Sanitation & Safety

  • Comply with DOH/health codes and cleaning schedules; practice clean-as-you-go.
  • Enforce responsible alcohol service and age-verification requirements; monitor guest intake.
  • Maintain safe chemical handling, report incidents and equipment issues promptly.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Coordinate with servers, runners, and expo on timing, coursing, and guest needs.
  • Participate in pre-shift lineups, tastings, and ongoing training; share product knowledge.
  • Support private dining/events with batching, preset cocktails, and coordinated service.

Technology & Systems

  • Use POS accurately; manage service-well tickets and bar tabs with seat numbers and modifiers.
  • Maintain data integrity for reporting (comps/voids, item buttons, recipe updates).
