JOB SUMMARY
Performs patient care custodian duties and assists with nursing duties in caring for nursing home residents including psychiatric and rehabilitative patients. Performs direct and indirect patient care activities according to established policies and procedures, observes and reports changes in patient conditions and maintains a safe and clean patient and environment.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the RN and/or DON
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
High school graduate or currently enrolled in final year of high school.
Successful completion of nursing assistant course and completion of state requirements for certification preferred.
Work Experience
Six (6) months to 1 year nursing home experience with acceptable references preferred.
License/Certification
Certified Nurse Assistant privileges in the State of Tennessee required

Assists the nurse with enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths.
Performs I&O measurements, checks vital signs and weight, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
Provides for comfort needs of patients.
Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees.
Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.
Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.
Promptly answers patients' call lights and requests.
Reports observations of a patient to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.
Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and attractive appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.
Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
OTHER DUTIES
Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.
