Job description

Pediatric Hospitalist Opportunity in San Diego, California

Join Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group/Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns as a full-time pediatric hospitalist. This position is in a premier, physician-led, multi-specialty group in San Diego where clinical excellence meets coastal living. Position Details:

  • Looking to add three dedicated pediatric hospitalists for four shifts per week.
  • Hospital shifts are from 7am-5pm with a staggered start time of 7am or 8am.
  • Two weekend days per month.
  • New-born rounding at Sharp Mary Birch for Women & Newborns, Southern California's only standalone women's hospital.
  • Level III NICU.
  • Group averages 4,000+ deliveries per year.
  • Hospital delivers ~9,000 babies per year, the highest volume in the state of California.
  • Responsible for newborn rounding, all calls from nurses, consults.
  • Average 19.5 babies per shift.
  • Minimum census is five babies.
  • Night call from home: one night out of 25. All peds patients, including FM and med/peds babies.
  • Occasional virtual pediatric care appointments or pick up after-hour shifts at any of the four after-hours locations: Sorrento Mesa, Otay Ranch, Santee, or Rancho Bernardo.
  • Salary Range: $230,000-$315,000+ Salary range may include productivity/bonuses. Compensation is subject to the individual department compensation plans. Additional information is discussed during the recruitment process.
  • Sign-on bonus.
  • Full comprehensive benefits package including pension plans and 401K.
  • Paid vacation, CME, and sick time including annual CME allowance.
  • Shareholder track (2 years for 1.0FTE).
  • Paid malpractice.
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Eligible.
  • Southern California's largest Level III NICU.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to receive hospital privileges.
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in pediatrics to be considered.
  • Preferred: NICU experience.
