Overall Function

The Inside Sales & Product Support Engineer provides technical-commercial support for Cleaner Refining M&R offerings, helping regional sales teams identify, develop, quote, and progress aftermarket opportunities. The role serves as a first-line product support resource for standard M&R offerings, prepares complete and accurate quote/proposal packages, coordinates supplier and internal inputs, supports CRM/Epicor data quality, and helps ensure opportunities move efficiently from customer request through quote, order acceptance, and handoff to execution.

Reporting Structure

Direct reporting to Cleaner Refining Product Management.

Job Description

This role is primarily focused on Cleaner Refining M&R / aftermarket offerings and will support regional sales teams, Product Management, Proposal Management, Engineering, Commercial Operations, and Project Execution as needed.

Inside Sales & M&R Product Support

  • Serve as an inside sales and first-line product support resource for assigned standard CR M&R opportunities.
  • Support regional sales teams and customers with routine product, scope, pricing-input, and quote-status questions; escalate non-standard or higher-risk issues to Product Management, Engineering, Technical Service, Commercial Operations, or Execution.
  • Help sales teams determine the appropriate standard M&R product scope based on customer request, installed equipment, prior history, and available product guidance.
  • Support share-of-wallet analysis by maintaining customer/site/product history and identifying repeat or adjacent M&R opportunities.
  • Capture recurring customer questions, proposal issues, and field feedback to help Product Management improve standard tools, templates, and offering clarity.

Proposal, RFQ & Commercial Support

  • Prepare complete, accurate, and on-time quote/proposal packages for standard M&R offerings.
  • Coordinate RFQs to vendors/suppliers and track supplier quote status.
  • Review supplier inputs for completeness, scope alignment, and obvious commercial/technical gaps before escalation.
  • Support quote revisions and clarifications.
  • Support preparation and organization of routine commercial documentation required for M&R quotes, bids, and order handoff.
  • Assist with PO review against the final quoted scope and support clean quote-to-order handoff to the execution team.

Sales Tools, Systems & Follow-Up

  • Maintain standard M&R proposal templates, scope descriptions, exceptions/clarifications, and reference packages.
  • Maintain standard M&R product reference materials, value proposition content, technical literature, installed-base information, and proposal support tools.
  • Use those materials to support customer meeting preparation, proposal development, and regional sales follow-up.
  • Help create and maintain accurate Epicor / CRM opportunity, quote, account, and forecast information.
  • Track customer follow-up items after quotes are issued and help ensure opportunities do not stall due to lack of documentation, supplier input, or internal follow-up.
  • Maintain quote, proposal, and order documentation in the appropriate systems.

Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required; Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical inside sales, proposal support, engineered equipment, aftermarket equipment, refinery/petrochemical equipment, mechanical equipment, or vendor-fabricated products.
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical equipment scopes, drawings/specifications, supplier quotations, customer requirements, and repair/refurbishment terminology.
  • Experience supporting RFQs, quote development, supplier coordination, proposal packages, PO review, and order handoff.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP systems preferred; Epicor experience a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong technical-commercial judgment and ability to identify when escalation is required.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work across time zones with regional sales, product management, engineering, suppliers, and execution teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple open quotes and customer requests with accuracy, urgency, and follow-through.
