Job description

Position: EDI Lead:

Location: - Northbrook, IL (4 days Onsite) 

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirement Gathering & Analysis

•          Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data exchange needs (e.g., Purchase Orders, Invoices, Shipping Notices).

•          Perform gap analysis between existing EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT) and internal system requirements.

•          Document detailed functional and technical specifications for the mapping team.

2. Coordination & Project Management

•          Onsite-Offshore Liaison: Act as the bridge between the client site and the offshore delivery center to ensure tasks are understood and deadlines are met.

•          Partner Onboarding: Lead the technical onboarding process for new trading partners, including communication setup (AS2, SFTP, VAN).

•          Status Reporting: Provide regular updates to management regarding project milestones, risks, and production stability.

3. Technical Oversight & Testing

•          Oversee Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

•          Review EDI maps and translation logic to ensure compliance with partner guidelines.

•          Troubleshoot complex production issues, including data errors, transmission failures, and mapping discrepancies.

4. Governance & Strategy

•          Maintain comprehensive documentation of trading partner profiles and mapping cross-references.

•          Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the EDI ecosystem.

•          Ensure adherence to industry security standards and data privacy regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

•          Technical Expertise:

•          Strong knowledge of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, VDA).

•          Experience with EDI translation tools (e.g., IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, OpenText, Boomi, or Seeburger).

•          Familiarity with communication protocols (AS2, FTP/SFTP, HTTPS).

•          Understanding of ERP integration (e.g., SAP IDocs, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics).

•          Professional Skills:

•          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing interactions.

•          Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

•          Experience in Agile or Waterfall project management methodologies.

•          Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
