Job description

JOB SUMMARY

As an SFCC Technical Architect - Digital Technologies, you will play a critical leadership role in defining and delivering scalable, high-performing ecommerce solutions on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform. As part of the Technology Solution Delivery team, this individual will partner across business, product, and engineering teams to architect solutions that support At Home's ecommerce roadmap, drive innovation, and ensure platform stability, scalability, and performance. This role requires both strategic architectural leadership and hands-on technical guidance across web, mobile, and backend systems.

This role is hybrid: 3 days onsite (Tues-Thurs) and 2 days at home (Mon-Fri).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead architecture, design, and technical strategy for Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) and related digital platforms 

  • Define and enforce best practices for SFCC development, integrations, and performance optimization 

  • Partner with Product, UX, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions 

  • Architect and oversee integrations between SFCC and enterprise systems (OMS, CRM, WMS, payment providers, tax services, etc.) 

  • Drive modernization efforts including API-first, headless, and microservices-based architectures (SCAPI, OCAPI, GCP BFF layer, etc.) 

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring code quality and architectural alignment 

  • Lead performance tuning, scalability improvements, and site stability initiatives 

  • Ensure compliance with security, PCI, SOX, and audit standards 

  • Oversee implementation of third-party tools including marketing, analytics, search, and personalization platforms 

  • Collaborate in an Agile environment using tools such as JIRA, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams 

  • Support continuous improvement of ecommerce operations including BOPIS, Ship-from-Store, and delivery capabilities. 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Core Competencies:

  • Strong experience architecting and implementing solutions on Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFRA, OCAPI, SCAPI) 

  • Deep understanding of ecommerce architecture patterns, including microservices; experience with headless/PWA architectures is a plus

  • Experience integrating SFCC with enterprise systems (OMS, CRM, Inventory, Payments) 

  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and backend-for-frontend (BFF) architectures 

  • Strong knowledge of web technologies is a plus: JavaScript, React, Node.js, HTML5

  • Experience with performance optimization, scalability, and site reliability 

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source control (Bitbucket), and development workflows 

  • Knowledge of catalog, pricing, promotions, and checkout flows within ecommerce platforms 

  • Experience with third-party integrations (payment gateways, tax providers, search, analytics) 

Leadership & Collaboration: 

  • Proven ability to lead technical design across multiple teams and domains 

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Ability to influence architectural direction and drive alignment across teams 

  • Experience mentoring developers and improving engineering practices 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience 

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering with significant focus on ecommerce platforms 

  • Proven experience in SFCC architecture and implementation 

  • Experience working in fast-paced, Agile environments with competing priorities
