Job Description:

Mountain Tarp of Sharonville, OH has an exciting opportunity for Tarp Sewer. The Sewing Machine Operator safely operates an industrial grade single/double needle sewing machine to sew nylon webbing and reinforcements to vinyl, mesh and cloth tarps as instructed by product blueprints and customer orders.

Hourly Rate: $24.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives and interprets work orders and material specifications as well as other work procedures to sew webbing and attachment devices to tarp fabric to create a finished product.
  • The operations performed will support tarp fabrication through stitching, sewing and reinforcing tarp fabric materials that include vinyl, cloth and plastic screening and other materials as specified by the customer; cutting and sewing specialty tarp patterns may also be required depending on order specifications.
  • When not using a sewing machine, you must be able to get down on floor and up again to make additional changes and modifications to tarps. This requirement is as important as being able to operate sewing machines.
  • All stitching must be neat, clean and straight and represent the industry standard in regards to quality; all stitching requirements must meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • The Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for always maintaining a safe work environment and must wear all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing the assigned tasks and stop work immediately in the event of a non-conformance; they must also report to their supervisor immediately any unsafe act or condition that requires corrective action.
  • Practices 5-S within their defined work area, returns all common tools to their proper place when not in use, and cleans the assigned work area once all work has been completed; the work area must be cleared of all debris and in the event that a tool does not have a designated storage place, the Sewing Machine Operator will consult their supervisor and co-workers to establish one.
  • As an individual and part of a team, strives to support continuous improvement across their individual and department tasks, as well as the organization as a whole.
  • Performs simple and routine maintenance and safety checks to ensure that all tools and equipment remain safe and fully operational; in the event a piece of equipment is unsafe or not functioning properly, the equipment should be immediately locked out and the supervisor should be notified.
  • Performs other duties as directed or assigned
  • No supervisory responsibilities are generally required for this position.
