At Fortner, we build commercial-grade custom furniture for spaces all over the country, right from our shop in Columbus, Ohio. The Opportunity Fortner Upholstering is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Sewing Machine Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will operate industrial sewing machines to assemble, repair, reinforce, and finish upholstered covers and related products while maintaining high quality standards. What You'll Do Operate and monitor industrial sewing machines Review work orders and verify materials before beginning production Thread and rethread sewing machines as needed Adjust machine settings and stitching speeds based on project requirements Inspect stitching and finished products for quality and accuracy Repair missing stitches and sew replacement parts as instructed Attach buttons, hooks, grips, trim, tape, and other fasteners to finished products Trim excess threads and material from completed items Report machine issues or production concerns to supervisors Perform basic preventative maintenance on sewing equipment Ensure finished products meet company quality and design standards Apply proper tags and labels to completed products What We're Looking For Experience operating industrial sewing machines preferred Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Basic math and measurement skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Benefits include the following: Medical insurance packages Short term disability insurance PTO IRA plan with match POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 - 4:00 (may vary as needed by demand).
