Job description

Vinyl Fabric Fabricator/Sewer

Reports to: Operations Manager

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Primary Objective: The responsibilities of the Industrial Vinyl Fabricator are to cut, seam using RF (radio frequency) and hot air equipment, sew, stitch, lace and grommet product to customer project requirements and scope. This individual will work with a wide variety of equipment and materials, working from engineered drawings and instructions.

Hiring for first shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm M-F.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Starting wage: $17-18 per hour based on skills and experience

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Cutting
    • Cut vinyl and other materials using scissors and a cutting table; must be tape measure proficient
  • Bar Seaming
    • Attach handles and seam vinyl using RF press equipment
  • Air Seaming
    • Seam vinyl and other materials using pull-style hot air equipment
  • Sewing
    • Prepares machine by changing needles and thread, oiling and changing bobbin, and securing attachments
    • Sew materials together using industrial sewing machines
  • Grommet
    • Use a grommet machine to press grommets into vinyl
  • Lace
    • Attach vinyl liners to metal frames using lacing rope

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to operate various machines; sewing experience is preferred
  • Proficient in math, able to use measuring devices, and comprehend engineered drawings and instructions
  • Able to effectively multi-task various projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and quality expectations
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with industrial sewing preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending for 8-hour periods.
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 20 pounds.
