Position Summary Information
Position Title Adjunct Instructor, Sewing Employment Category Adjunct Contract Length N/A Expected Work Schedule Variable Anticipated Days 1-2 days a week Anticipated Hours 2.5 hours per class Anticipated Hours per Week 5-10 hours per week Job Description Summary
Teach face-to-face beginning to advanced sewing clothing construction classes and the use of sewing machines to adult learners with various levels of experience. Communicate information and instructions with clarity and patience. Select projects appropriate to the student's skill level.
Duties
Develop lesson plans. Organize the lab and keep machines in good working order. Teach all aspects of clothing constructions and select patterns appropriate for all students. Be flexible to the needs of the students.
Minimum Requirements
1. Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in all aspects of sewing and clothing constructions;
2. Two years' teaching experience in teaching sewing in a high school, college or professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics or Fiber Arts.
2. Knowledge of Bernina Sewing Machines.
3. Ability to clean and service sewing machines.

  1. If selected for hire, official sealed transcripts from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education are required to be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work.
  2. Transcripts outside of the United States, must be accompanied by an evaluation completed by a NACES recognized agency and received by Human Resources at least two weeks prior to the first day of work.
