Job Description
Position Summary: LTYC is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Beauty (Fashion/Cosmetology) Instructor to introduce elementary and middle school students to the world of cosmetology, fashion, and personal care. The ideal candidate will inspire students to express themselves through style, grooming, and self-care in a developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and empowering environment. This is an independent contractor position and not an employee role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and teach engaging lessons in beginner-friendly beauty topics such as skincare, hairstyling, nail care, fashion design, and grooming.
  • Introduce students to the history and cultural relevance of beauty and fashion across communities.
  • Promote creativity, self-expression, and confidence while reinforcing age-appropriate hygiene and personal care.
  • Guide students in hands-on activities like nail art, basic hairstyling, accessorizing, wardrobe styling, and simple sewing or design projects.
  • Emphasize positive self-image, etiquette, and personal presentation in a supportive classroom environment.
  • Ensure safe use of all materials and tools; teach basic sanitation and care procedures.
  • Collaborate with other educators for cross-disciplinary events such as fashion shows, showcases, or career days.
  • Maintain an organized and clean instructional space.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Professional background in cosmetology, fashion design, beauty education, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of prior experience teaching beauty (fashion/cosmetology to children, ideally in an elementary or middle school setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt lessons for different age groups and learning styles.
  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to nurturing creativity in young learners.

Additional Requirements:
  • Independent Contractor Agreement: Must be signed upon acceptance.
  • References: Three professional references required, including at least one from a previous position working with children.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from school site(s).
  • Certifications:
    • Valid CPR & First Aid certification.
    • Proof of educational background and professional certifications (if applicable).
  • Health Clearance:
    • A letter from a physician confirming candidate is in good health, free from communicable diseases (including TB).
  • Background Check:

Must provide a current background check from CJIS (including state, federal, and childcare clearance).
