Department: Club Operations
Reports to: Senior Director, Club Operations
Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000

Position Summary:
The holder of this role is a strategic, community-centered leader who will lead the Boys amp; Girls Club at Howard Community College (HCC) in Columbia, Maryland and supervise programs at the Harper’s Choice Middle School site. This is a high-impact role for a dynamic mission-driven leader who is interested in leading a Club with growth potential.
The Club Manager is the principal of a Clubhouse. They are a strong managerial and operational lead, who oversees all aspects of Club operations, including team leadership, facility operations, budget management, program quality, and community partnerships. The Club Manager will build a culture of excellence in Howard County, strengthen partnerships at HCC and across the community, and ensure every young person who enters the Club has access to safe, fun, and outcome-driven opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations and Resource Management
  • Navigate the unique operational needs of a Club located on a college Campus, coordinating and communicating effectively with HCC departments and partners regarding shared spaces, facility access, scheduling, transportation, events, and other resources necessary to support Club operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between BGCMB and Howard Community College.
  • Serve as the primary operational lead of the Club, ensuring seamless day-to-day functioning of all systems, facility operations, and logistics.
  • Manage the Club budget responsibly, monitor expenditures, and make informed recommendations regarding supplies, equipment, and operational needs.
  • Work with organizational leadership to realize BGCMB’s strategic goals in the Howard County market.
  • Oversee transportation planning and coordination for Club members, including school pickup routes, schedules, family communication, vehicle procedures, and adherence to organizational transportation and safety requirements.
Team Leadership and Talent Development
  • Supervise and support Club Coordinators at both the HCC and Harper’s Choice Middle sites.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and retain talented staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a Club culture of excellence, accountability, teamwork, and learning that is guided by organizational core values.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 4-7 direct reports focused on exceptional youth development, strong operations, and meaningful community engagement.
Membership, Programs, Data, and Grants
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve annual membership, attendance, recruitment, and retention goals, using participation data and community needs to identify opportunities for sustainable Club growth.
  • Lead annual planning for HCC Club programming, including goals, priorities, and measurable youth development outcomes aligned with BGCMB’s strategic direction and grant requirements, with guidance from a Senior Director of Strategic Programs.
  • Use MyClubHub and other required data tools to consistently track program outputs and youth impact, maintain accurate and timely records, and hold the Club accountable for measuring, reporting, and improving.
  • Partner closely with members of BGCMB’s administrative team to align site-based programming and operations with organizational goals, standards, and grant requirements; available resources; and established best practices.
  • Prepare timely reports for all grants and organizational needs that capture participation, partner engagement, events, accomplishments, and operational challenges.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure administrative, operational, and life-safety systems are fully in place and the Club environment remains safe, clean, welcoming, and well maintained.
  • Maintain compliance with BGCMB and BGCA safety standards, membership requirements, and internal and external safety assessments.
  • Promote BGCMB’s Culture of Safety and reinforce a shared commitment to the well-being of members, staff, volunteers, and guests.
  • Make timely reports through established appropriate channels when incidents occur.
Community Partnerships and Engagement
  • Cultivate strong relationships with families and community stakeholders to increase participation, deepen engagement, and reinforce the Club’s role as a trusted community resource.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local schools and school-based partners to support member recruitment, attendance, transportation coordination, family engagement, and continuity of services.
  • Represent BGCMB with credibility and professionalism in interactions at community events, school meetings, neighborhood forums, and partner gatherings to strengthen visibility and support for the Club.
  • Build, strengthen, and steward strategic partnerships that expand opportunities for youth and families and deepen the Club’s impact in the community.
  • Collaborate with internal Communications and Resource Development teams to support storytelling, public relations, membership recruitment, and broader community engagement efforts.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned in support of Club operations and organizational priorities.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least five years of experience in a Boys amp; Girls Club or similar youth-serving organization, including responsibility for planning and supervising developmentally appropriate programs for young people.
  • At least two years of leadership experience in a supervisory role.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software systems.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Boys amp; Girls Club programming, policies, and best practices.
  • Experience managing facilities and maintaining safe, welcoming environments for youth and families.
  • Experience working within a school, college/university, or other institutional partnership environment involving shared facilities, resources, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, budget oversight, and operational management.
  • Demonstrated success building and sustaining partnerships with community organizations, schools, and corporate partners.
  • Experience supporting youth behavior management and creating positive, structured environments.
  • Spanish, Hindi, and/or other South Asian languages proficiency.
