Registered Nurse, OBGYN

PRN/OCC, Variable Hours, Night Shift

Work at least 1-2 times a week, work 1 major and 1 minor holiday every year, weekends as needed

Department Overview:

The Dolly Parton Birthing Center at LeConte Medical Center is fully equipped with 10 LDRP beds, 9 post-partum/GYN rooms, a nursery, a 2 bed triage unit, 1 recovery room, and 1 OR Suite. This department is a family-centered birthing unit whose main goal is to provide excellent birthing experiences for patients and their families, and to promote family bonding with care and education.

Position Summary:

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.


  • Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care.
  • Assess learning needs of patient and family.
  • Develops and initiates teaching plan, involving patient and family.
  • Recommends interventions.
  • Evaluates plan of care.
  • Resolves problems regarding less complex issues without oversight or supervision.
  • Member of established active hospital committee or subcommittee with 75% participation in meetings.
  • Demonstrates willingness to precept new employees/students as directed.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Education:           

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Must possess at least one (1) year of professional experience.

Licensure Requirement:      

Valid Tennessee license. CPR required.
