Job description

Location: Active Wellness Center at NorthBay - Vacaville, CA
Pay Transparency: $17.00 per administrative hour + $30.00 - $50.00 per piece rate hour for Zone class delivery; Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay depends on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, work experience, and other business needs.
Role and Responsibilities
The ZONE Coach conducts multiple formats of small group training in a boutique style studio while incorporating the use of heart rate training technology as well as the most relevant scientifically proven forms of functional training.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Develop engaging and motivating small group training, within The ZONE structure, for a variety of fitness levels and abilities.
  • Educate members on the benefits of heart rate training and coach to the correct heart rate zones for each training session.
  • Assist members in using safe and effective exercise form during each ZONE session.
  • Assist in the growth of the program through member outreach and demo classes.
  • Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals
  • Attend department meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications current
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly fitness environment, picking up towels, water bottles, etc.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, squatting and lifting.
  • Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others. Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
  • Work as a TEAM with all other departments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Other Functions
  • Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
  • Promote club services and activities
  • Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
  • Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
  • Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • National Personal Training Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses and Permits list) as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)
  • Operational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper form.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and injury prevention.
  • Knowledge of heart rate training zones.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
  • AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Proof of citizenship or legal status

Physical and Working Conditions
  • Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
  • Ability to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Fitness club environment
  • Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
