Job Summary
The Service Writer is responsible for assisting the Service Department with customer service needs, work orders, processing of equipment repairs, daily operations of shop functions, field service functions and delivery functions.
Essential Functions
  • Provide service information to customers, schedule customer service needs, add segments to work orders containing job information
  • Assist in the appraisal and quote process for equipment repair.
  • Coordinate parts and labor requirements with Service Manager for work orders.
  • Assist in scheduling shop assignments, field service work and delivery of equipment.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Open and close work orders.
  • Provide clerical assistance, including some correspondence and data entry.
  • Develop positive customer relations by accurately communicating repair status and charges for equipment repairs.
  • Greet service customers and answer calls to schedule service appointments.
  • Advise customers of estimated service and repair costs.
  • Review details of service/repair invoice to ensure customer understanding of services provided
  • Communicate progress of repair/service orders
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in automotive/construction service administrator role.
  • College or technical school certificate/degree preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Excel preferred.
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills required.
