Operations Manager - Material Handling

Position Overview
The Operations Manager - Material Handling is responsible for providing leadership and management oversight for assigned operational areas. This role ensures full compliance with safety standards, company policies, site SOPs, and customer requirements while maintaining efficient, high-quality service delivery. Operations Managers are expected to lead with a strong safety-first mindset and an "out-front" management approach.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead by example while embodying the company's ethical practices and core principles
• Provide direct management oversight of daily operations and personnel
• Exercise independent judgment on matters including hiring, discipline, promotions, and performance management
• Ensure compliance with all company, customer, OSHA, EPA, FRA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements
• Conduct audits and inspections (including AAR, ISA, ISO, and similar programs)
• Identify, correct, and prevent unsafe working conditions and behaviors
• Ensure associates are trained, qualified, and following all work instructions and SOPs
• Ensure all accidents, injuries, and incidents are reported, investigated, documented, and addressed appropriately
• Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to reduce recurrence
• Drive continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency
• Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure expectations are consistently met
• Set, monitor, and document performance and development goals for direct reports
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in an industrial or material handling environment
Valid driver's license (as required for company operations)
Ability to meet all conditions of employment

Ability to manage multiple priorities independently

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work on uneven surfaces
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently
Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, twist, and kneel throughout the workday
Ability to wear required PPE and meet physical requirements of supervised positions
Ability to operate vehicles, hear and communicate safety instructions, and use computers daily
