Purpose

The Service Operations Manager is responsible for leading all front-end operations, customer service functions, administrative processes, and service-focused operational activities within the store. This position drives exceptional customer experiences, operational efficiency, labor productivity, financial performance, and compliance with company standards. The Service Operations Manager serves as a key member of the store leadership team and supports total store success through effective leadership and execution.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and develop front-end and service operations associates.
  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and customer service excellence.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Recognize and reward strong performance while addressing performance concerns appropriately.
  • Develop future leaders through training and succession planning initiatives.
Customer Experience
  • Ensure outstanding customer service standards are consistently executed throughout the store.
  • Lead service initiatives designed to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Resolve customer concerns, complaints, and escalated issues professionally and promptly.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Create a welcoming environment that promotes a positive shopping experience.
Front-End Operations
  • Direct daily operations of checkout lanes, self-checkout areas, customer service desks, and related service functions.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to meet customer demand and productivity expectations.
  • Monitor transaction accuracy and front-end operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with cash handling, refund, and transaction procedures.
  • Support efficient customer flow and minimize wait times.
Administrative Operations
  • Oversee cash office operations and financial control procedures.
  • Ensure accurate cash accountability, reconciliation, deposits, and reporting.
  • Maintain operational records, documentation, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Support payroll, workforce management, and scheduling processes.
  • Ensure adherence to company financial controls and administrative procedures.
Financial Management
  • Manage labor scheduling and productivity within assigned areas.
  • Monitor front-end expenses, operational metrics, and business performance indicators.
  • Support store sales and profitability goals through efficient operations.
  • Reduce shortages, cash variances, and controllable expenses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
Safety, Compliance & Asset Protection
  • Maintain a safe working and shopping environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, labor standards, and operational procedures.
  • Support asset protection initiatives and shrink reduction programs.
  • Ensure handling of confidential information is secure and compliant.
  • Address operational and compliance issues promptly and effectively.
Store Leadership & Operations
  • Serve as a member of the store leadership team.
  • Collaborate with department managers to drive overall store performance.
  • Support store opening, closing, and Manager-on-Duty responsibilities.
  • Assist with implementation of company initiatives, promotional events, and operational programs.
  • Support overall store operations and business objectives as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, front-end procedures, cash handling, and labor management.
  • Ability to analyze operational reports and performance metrics.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, workforce management software, and retail operating systems.
