While both roles involve direct customer interaction, Service Greeters primarily focus on welcoming and guiding customers at entry points, requiring basic communication skills. Customer Service Representatives handle a wider range of support tasks, often including problem-solving and account management, with more extensive training. Understanding these differences helps job seekers find roles that match their skills and career goals.

What are some typical challenges a Service Greeter might face during busy periods at an automotive dealership?

During peak hours, Service Greeters often manage a high volume of arriving customers, which can make it challenging to provide each guest with personalized attention and ensure prompt check-in. Balancing multiple tasks—such as directing traffic, answering questions, and coordinating with service advisors—requires strong organizational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Effective communication and teamwork are essential to keep operations running smoothly and maintain a positive customer experience, even during the busiest times.

What are the duties of a greeter?

A service greeter is responsible for welcoming customers or visitors, providing assistance, and directing them to the appropriate areas or staff. They often handle initial inquiries, maintain a friendly demeanor, and ensure a positive first impression in the environment they work in.

What jobs pay $400 an hour?

Service Greeters typically do not earn $400 an hour; such high wages are usually associated with specialized professions like top-tier consultants, surgeons, or high-level executives. Most jobs paying this rate require advanced skills, significant experience, or ownership of a business, rather than entry-level or customer service roles.

Is Walmart greeter still a job?

Walmart greeter positions are still available at some stores, though the role has evolved with changes in store layouts and technology. The job typically involves welcoming customers, providing assistance, and maintaining a friendly environment, often requiring good communication skills and customer service experience.

What are Service Greeters?

Service Greeters are professionals who welcome customers as they arrive at a service center, such as an automotive dealership or repair shop. Their main responsibilities include greeting clients, answering initial questions, directing customers to the appropriate staff or service area, and ensuring a positive first impression. They may also assist with check-in procedures, provide information about services, and help manage customer flow. Service Greeters play a vital role in customer satisfaction by creating a friendly and organized environment.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A service greeter typically does not earn $10,000 a month without a degree, as their wages are usually hourly or salary-based and below that level. High earnings of this amount are more common in specialized fields like sales, real estate, or entrepreneurship, which often require experience, skills, or certifications rather than formal degrees.

Job description

Job Title: Service Department Greeter

Location: Bristol, Tennessee

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Salary

About Us

At Bristol Honda, our service department is the engine that keeps our customers moving. We pride ourselves on speed, accuracy, and top-tier customer care. We know that bringing a vehicle in for service can sometimes be stressful for clients, which is why we are looking for a high-energy Service Department Greeter to make their arrival smooth, welcoming, and stress-free.

The Role: What You’ll Do

As our Service Department Greeter, you will be the very first person customers see when they pull up. You will be setting a positive, efficient tone for their entire maintenance or repair experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The First Welcome: Enthusiastically greet customers as they pull into the service drive or walk up to the service counter.

  • Check-In & Triage: Identify the customer’s appointment status, perform initial check-in steps (like recording mileage or VINs), and place protective floor mats/covers if necessary.

  • Direct Traffic: Keep the service lane organized and moving smoothly, guiding vehicles or clients to the appropriate service advisor.

  • Lounge Hospitality: Direct customers to our waiting lounge, introduce them to amenities (coffee, Wi-Fi, refreshments), and give them an idea of what to expect next.

  • Keep It Pristine: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service drive and customer reception area.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

You don’t need to be a mechanic to excel here, but you do need to love moving fast and helping people.

  • High Energy & Stamina: You enjoy being on your feet, moving around, and working in a fast-paced environment (sometimes dealing with outdoor weather elements in the service bay).

  • Excellent Communicator: You are friendly, clear, and can confidently guide customers who might be in a rush.

  • Detail-Oriented: Accurate with numbers and names—getting the initial check-in data right keeps the whole department running smoothly.

  • Driver's License Required: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required, as you may occasionally need to move customer vehicles.

  • Experience: Experience in automotive dealerships, retail, or hospitality is preferred, but a great attitude and strong work ethic are our top priorities.

Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay with steady hours.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • 401(k) with company match.

  • Paid time off and holiday pay.

How to Apply

If you love cars/machinery and enjoy making people smile, we want to talk to you! Please submit your resume or drop by in person to fill out an application.
