Job description

Job Summary:
Bering Straits Professional Services (BSPS) is committed to world-class management of global logistics, training and procurement services for U.S. Government agencies. They are seeking a STRMM System Administrator to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server systems while managing physical and virtual server systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Responsibilities:
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server, including AD, GPO, and DNS.
• Manage and support physical & virtual server systems, including hardware, OS, applications, and databases.
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and performance optimization.
• Administer SAN/NAS enterprise storage solutions.
• Support Microsoft Exchange environments (preferred).
• Monitor systems for faults, alarms, and outages; isolate root causes and restore service.
• Provide Tier 2 support for escalated/networking issues.
• Conduct trend analysis for availability, reliability, and survivability.
• Coordinate with external agencies/contractors on issues beyond demarcation points.
• Perform network troubleshooting with strong foundational networking experience.
• Apply security updates, DISA-aligned patching, and hardening standards.
• Utilize enterprise tools like SCOM, MECM(SCCM), and monitoring systems.
• Support both planned and unplanned infrastructure changes.
• Plan, install, manage, and administer databases to ensure performance and security.
• Conduct database patching, configuration, and capacity management.
• Manage user access, permissions, and privileges.
• Develop backup and recovery plans.
• Build or knowledge to build custom SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) reports, queries, templates, and integrations.
• Maintain database documentation, data standards, and dictionaries.
• Create clear, detailed technical documentation.
• Manage user accounts, profiles, and access.
• Ensure user compliance with security and access policies.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, OR An associate’s degree plus seven (7) total years of recent specialized experience, OR a certification plus seven (7) years of recent specialized experience, OR eleven (11) total years of recent specialized experience.
• Active US Government issued Secret clearance.
• Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT related field
• Experience: A+, Security+, Network+, Four (4) years in IT customer support and shall have two (2) years’ experience in a military environment.
• In lieu of a Bachelor's degree you need 10 years of related experience
• Minimum of three 4 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server systems administration.
• Must hold the following certifications: advanced certifications CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ CCNP, CCNA, MCSE and leadership in large-scale network operations.
• Able to travel to support mission up to 10%.
• Create clear, detailed technical documentation.
• Manage user accounts, profiles, and access.
• Ensure user compliance with security and access policies.
Preferred:
• Support other mission-related technical tasks as required.
