Since a computer system typically plays an integral role in the operations of a company, a server administrator must be able to monitor the system’s performance closely and have a plan in place if any data is missing or at risk. Depending on the company and its IT needs, you may need to design a recovery plan in the event of an emergency. Responsibilities may include installing software and other updates to keep the computers running efficiently and ensure that the network remains secure. Since an install and other updates are often time-consuming, you may work odd hours, especially when company employees are not working.
