Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current award year
  2. Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
  3. Must be enrolled in at least half-time. (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate) per semester
  4. Must have a federal need of at least $2,000
  5. Submit all requested financial aid documentation from your To-Do-List by the due date
  6. Must have an official award notification from the Financial Aid Office
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen, or permanent resident

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Dean, Library and under the lead work direction of the Electronic Resources & Serials Lead, the incumbent will assist with the review and processing of electronic and library print materials. Using our Unified Library Management System the student assistant will assist with adding library items to our collection and relabeling/repairing of library material. Our ambition is to attract and retain the best talent in the market to continue our journey building a world class in-house Library Technical Services team while carrying out the Universities mission and vision statement.

Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision of the Dean, Library and under the lead work direction of the Electronic Resources & Serials Lead duties include but not limited to:
- Addition of print periodicals into our Unified Library Management System (ULMS):
- Search in the ULMS for the correct record for the serial items to be added to the collection.
- Add barcodes and item information for new serial items received to their correct records in the ULMS.
- Review bibliographic record and holdings for accuracy of all new serial items received and added.
- Scan all processed and completed library material for shelving into the ULMS to show available.
- Route all completed library material for shelving.

Quality review and processing of physical library material added to our collection:
- Review of bibliographic records, holdings records and the individual item records in the ULMS for each library material.
- Print physical label for each library material added to the collection.
- Property stamp of each physical library material added to the collection.
- Scan all processed and completed library material for shelving into the ULMS to show available.
- Route all completed library material for shelving.

Relable/Repair of library material:
- Identify library material for relable or various repair needs.
- Process material needed for relables using the ULMS and the label printer.
- Identify the specific repair needs for each material received.
- Repair as necessary for each individual library material using specific repair techniques.
- After completion scan in all relabled and repaired material in the ULMS to show as available.
- Route all completed library material for shelving.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications:

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Conditions of Employment

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Driver's License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
