About Fulfillment IQ (FIQ):

Fulfillment IQ is a supply chain engineering and transformation company that helps brands, retailers, and 3PLs design, build, and scale high-performance logistics operations.

We work at the intersection of strategy, operations, and technology where we solve complex, real-world problems across warehouse design, automation, order management, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain execution.

Our teams combine deep domain expertise with strong technical capability, delivering outcomes through consulting, systems implementation, and proprietary platforms that accelerate time-to-value and reduce delivery risk.

Role Overview:

We're seeking a skilled IIB / IBM ACE Integration Developer to join our growing tech team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and configuring integration flows within IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) using Data Format Description Language (DFDL) for complex data parsing and serialization. You'll be the bridge between business systems, customers, and trading partners while building and managing EDI, API, and application integrations. If you're a fan of seamless data flow, love a challenge, and thrive in a collaborative environment, let's talk.

Key Responsibilities:

IIB / IBM ACE / MuleSoft Integration Experience

  • Hands-on experience with IIB / IBM ACE / Mulesoft Integration
  • Designing, building, and deploying EDI workflows, maps, and transformations

DFDL Schema Design

  • Create, test, and optimize DFDL models to map and parse non-standard, custom text, CSV, fixed-width, and legacy binary file formats
  • Write and maintain complex DFDL schemas using regular expressions and handle multi-format messages or variable-length records
  • Build message flows that utilize DFDL to convert unstructured or proprietary data formats into standard XML or JSON structures, and vice-versa

Legacy System Integration

  • Connect modern applications with legacy mainframes and backend systems
  • Process complex industry-specific messages (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) via DFDL

EDI Standards & Protocols

  • Proficiency in EDI formats: X12, EDIFACT, TRADACOMS, etc.
  • Understanding of communication protocols: AS2, FTP/SFTP, HTTP/S, VANs

Data Formats

  • Experience working with XML, JSON, CSV, Flat Files

Integration Development

  • Strong skills in data transformation, routing, scripting
  • Debugging, monitoring, and error handling of integration flows

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting

  • Root-cause analysis for integration failures, including DFDL parser and IBM ACE runtime issues
  • Debug data parsing issues, schema validation errors, and performance bottlenecks
  • Timely resolution of production issues

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Clear documentation of workflows, mappings, and processes
  • Collaboration with clients, business analysts, and development teams

Qualifications:

  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience with IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) v11/v12 middleware development (both required; Mulesoft experience welcomed as equivalent adjacent background).
  • Proven experience writing and maintaining complex DFDL schemas, utilizing regular expressions, and handling multi-format messages or variable-length records.
  • Proficient in using the IBM ACE Toolkit for DFDL schema generation, testing, and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of ESQL, mapping nodes, XML Schema (XSD), and standard messaging protocols (MQ, HTTP, REST, SOAP).
  • Proficiency in EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT, CSV, XML, JSON).
  • Strong knowledge of data mapping, transformation, and communication protocols (FTP/SFTP, AS2, HTTP/S, etc.).
  • Experience with industry messaging standards (EDI, SWIFT, HL7) is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a big plus.
  • Understands performance tuning, CI/CD automation, Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I), containerization, and advanced ESQL memory management.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice to have:

  • Comfortable with ESQL/Java/Mapping. Understands Shared Libraries and basic troubleshooting via user traces. Knows how to use server.conf.yaml.
  • Experience building integrations with Oracle Transportation Management, Oracle CPQ, or any other Transportation Management System.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days:

30 Days In

  • Develop a deep understanding of FIQ's integration architecture, active client environments, and the IBM ACE/IIB platform setup in use
  • Review existing DFDL schemas, message flows, EDI mappings, and integration documentation
  • Establish strong working relationships with client stakeholders, business analysts, and the delivery team
  • Identify any immediate gaps, technical debt, or risks in the current integration landscape

60 Days In

  • Independently design, build, and deploy integration flows and DFDL schemas with minimal supervision
  • Begin resolving production issues and debugging parser errors with speed and accuracy
  • Contribute to documentation of workflows, mappings, and data transformation logic
  • Demonstrate credible, client-facing communication on integration design and delivery progress

90 Days In

  • Own end-to-end delivery of assigned integration workstreams, from design through testing and go-live
  • Deliver well-documented, tested, and production-ready DFDL schemas and IBM ACE message flows
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, schema validation errors, and edge cases
  • Be recognized as a reliable, self-sufficient contributor by the client and the FIQ delivery team
